JOB DETAILS:
The Position
Roche is seeking a Access & Business Development, Oncology Diagnostics Lead, Africa to bring strategic focus and coordination in a Pan-African approach with a focus on diagnostics for oncology with an emphasis for cervical cancer/HPV testing in the short term within the Global Access Program and the private sector markets with the vision to expand our oncology business within the 10 Year Africa Strategy.

Key Responsibilities
• Bring together, oversee and focus Roche’s efforts to drive building women’s health oncology, which an emphasis for cervical cancer programs, including implementation of HPV testing, across Africa
• Drive the implementation of Pan-African strategic priorities for oncology within the broader African 10 Year strategy and the Global Access Program 5 Year Strategy for HPV testing
• Build a deep understanding of the health ecosystem and policy agenda for cervical cancer across Africa, including key influencers, strategic networks and partners where Roche can effectively engage to support end to end solutions along the patient journey including screening, diagnostics and treatment thereby establishing market understanding and relationships for broader oncology areas
• Connect internally across the regions to leverage best practices for Africa and from Africa (eg LATAM, Europe, APAC) for oncology with an emphasis for cervical cancer, linked with breast cancer and Women’s health initiatives where appropriate
• Enable removal of barriers and bring key health topics to the priority agenda for rapid, broad and sustainable access to Roche innovations for oncology patients with an emphasis for cervical cancer
• Coordinate across various internal functions across Africa as key advocate for cervical cancer and women’s health to align focus and activities including Access, Medical, Global Access Program Network of Excellence, Marketing, In-country commercial teams, Finance and liaison with Roche Pharma at the Pan-African and country levels
• Create linkage to EMEA LATAM NEO, platforms, leadership teams, Government Affairs, Medical, other relevant stakeholders and affiliates within the region, to align with the broader regional oncology, cervical cancer and women’s health topics
• Create linkage with global functions such as Global Access & Policy, Chapter leads and Customer Area (eg International Business Leaders, International Product Managers) for connection to broader global strategy, campaigns and product development needs
• Operationalize and coordinate, with expertise, external partnership projects in collaboration with Global Access Program Network, Africa Network, One Roche Policy & Partnership Squad, Global stakeholders and other key internal networks, in the efforts of providing sustainable end-to-end solutions to customers and patients
• Build and maintain strong external networks and stakeholder relationships with NGOs (e.g. GoFuther, PEPFAR, UICC, WHO Afro, Jhpiego, etc.), HCPs and other key groups to support investments and priorities towards oncology and cervical cancer programs across Africa
• Monitor changing market dynamics related to key external stakeholders, customers and competition to guide decisions to support the development of new business models, new financing opportunities and advocacy in support of oncology, cervical cancer and women’s health initiatives

You, as an ideal candidate, will have the following skills, experience and education:
• Bachelor’s degree Business, Marketing or Science, Advanced Degree (Public Health, Policy/Economics, MBA) preferred
• At least 5 years of product management, project management, business development or marketing/sales experience in the healthcare industry
• Experience and/or background in oncology, cervical cancer or breast cancer including program management, policy/market shaping, and/or strategy development
• Strong communication skills and the ability to successfully work within cross-functional matrix teams, driving and influencing others, implementing vision and strategy across countries as part of the Africa network
• Proven track record of tactical agility, ability to make decisions and problem solve in complex and ambiguous situations and working within the agile management approach
• Ability to engage and build strong relationships with external stakeholders, co-create solutions and to gain insights, address needs and represent Roche initiatives effectively individually and as part of a broader team.Strong influencing and negotiation skills: confirmed abilities to influence others without authority and mobilise people behind a common purpose and strategy
• Experience working in and with stakeholders in African markets with demonstrated cultural empathy
• Ethical mindset and good understanding of relevant compliance principles and regulations
• Possess a proactive mindset, and be self-motivated, passionate driver from start to finish for projects and willingness to handle all levels of tasks (hands-on)
• Willingness and ability to travel within Africa and International (e.g. EU, US) as required (approx. 40%)
• Fluency in English required (spoken and written), other languages including French and/or Portuguese considered a plus
