The Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CLARE) Initiative is an initiative supporting research to enable inclusive and sustainable action to build resilience to climate change and natural hazards across Africa and Asia-Pacific.
SENIOR PROGRAM SPECIALIST – Three (3) Positions
CLIMATE RISK - RISK-INFORMED EARLY ACTION - CLIMATE-RESILIENT DEVELOPMENT**
Term Positions to March 2027 – Ottawa, Dakar or Nairobi

As a Senior Program Specialist - Climate Risk**:
· Do you have expertise in producing or applying climate science or services, including issues related to compounding and cascading risks related to climate change?
· Do you have expertise in considering equity in climate action; effectiveness, costs and benefits of adaptation; and/or interactions of climate and human mobility?
· Do you have knowledge of the IPCC assessment process, including identified research priorities and knowledge gaps?
As a Senior Program Specialist - Risk-Informed Early Action
· Do you have expertise on the interface of disaster resilience and humanitarian assistance related to climate shocks and extreme events?
· Do you have expertise on design and delivery of early warning systems, disaster preparedness, forecast-based financing, or anticipatory action?
· Do you have expertise in considering equity in climate action; effectiveness, costs and benefits of adaptation; and/or interactions of climate and human mobility?
As a Senior Program Specialist - Climate-Resilient Development
· Do you have knowledge of climate policy instruments, their implementation, and opportunities to inform practice (such as nationally determined contributions, adaptation measures, and climate finance)?
· Do you have area of expertise related to climate-resilient development such as rural livelihoods, food systems, health, urban planning, gender and equality in climate action, assessing costs and benefits of adaptation, or interactions of climate and human mobility?

Overview of Qualifications
· A PhD. in a relevant discipline.
· A minimum of eight (8) years of recent and relevant experience, including demonstrated record of program management and/or research publication.
· Positions require English and French intermediate or advanced reading, writing, and speaking skills.
