DEPARTMENT OF DENTAL SPECIALISTS

Requirements for Appointment
• Served as Senior Dental Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Bachelor of Dental Surgery (DS) degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board;
• Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Be a Registered member of the relevant Regulatory Board;
• Certificate of registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board
• Certificate of current Annual Retention;
• Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Managing dental conditions in a dental unit or health facility including diagnosis, investigating, treating and documentation;
• Performing specific dental care procedures;
• Restorative, prosthodontics, paedodontics, orthodontics, minor oral- facial surgeries and periodontology and health education
• Periodontology and health education;
• Providing formal and informal training, and supervising other health workers;
• Maintaining up-to-date dental health information systems;
• Organizing community sensitization and outreach programs on dental health care;
• Disseminating information for health planning

Level of Education: Bachelor Degree
