2 Technical Officers- Laboratory Services
Job purpose
The Technical Officer- Lab services will provide technical support to program and CHMT teams within Dhibiti Project aimed to strengthen laboratory operations including capacity building, networking, and quality assurance to ensure delivery of quality HIV services in Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyeri and Kirinyaga counties.
Key responsibilities
• Provide technical support to facility lab staff, SCHMT, and within the supported facilities in the delivery of effective laboratory services for HIV programs Support facility teams to implement an effective sample networking system for HIV/TB in the county
• Work with sub-county teams to implement activities for ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and safety of lab equipment Collaborate with SCHMT to build the capacity of staff to ensure laboratory/facility safety and monitor activities for compliance as per National safety standards Participate in the development and implementation of annual laboratory work plans in liaison with
• the respective sub-county teams Participation in relevant County/Sub County technical working groups (TWGs) and program stakeholders’ forums Support development/review of laboratory SOPS for diagnostics, Quality Asuarance and surveillance in HIV/TB programs Support participation in relevant EQA proficiency testing programs in HIV Testing Services(HTS) and Laboratory by relevant facility staff in the supported facilities Support implementation and monitoring of Laboratory Quality Management Systems (QMS) within the supported laboratories Together with the sub-county team, develop accurate quantification, forecasting, reporting, and ordering for health laboratory and HIV testing commodities
• Facilitate sub-county teams to scale-up RTCQI implementation in all the supported facilities and implementation of corrective measures Support horizontal scale-up and activation of HIV Recency in the supported sites across the Counties Support implementation of a quality improvement and data use for program improvement
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in laboratory sciences At least 5 years of experience managing laboratory services in PEPFAR-funded projects Experience in PEPFAR/CDC laboratory indicators and reporting requirements Registered with KMLTTB and possessing a valid practicing license
• Knowledge of current technological developments/trends and guidelines in HIV/TB diagnostic management Experience in working with the S/Counties collaboratively is mandatory and especially health systems strengthening
• Experience in providing training, supervision, and mentorship of facility and program staff Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Good interpersonal skills, communication, accountability, continual learning, and results driven
