JOB DETAILS:
Pursuant to County Government Act section 59 (1) (a) and (b) and the constitution of Kenya 2010, the County Public Service Board of Marsabit wishes to recruit competent and qualified citizens to fill the following vacant positions in the under listed County departments.
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, LIVESTOCK AND FISHERIES
CPSBM 45/ALF/27/01/2021: Fisheries Assistants (Job Group H)- 2 Posts
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable .
Duties and Responsibilities
• Carry out day to day operations of the fisheries project
• Assess the status of catch per unit effort (monitor catch effort).
• Set catch targets.
• Data collection and analysis in the county with focus on fish capture, processing and marketing.
• Prepare periodic reports and findings to support investment decisions and influence investment policy.
• Advice the fisheries department on resource mobilization and allocation.
• Develop a data bank for future reference.
• Prepare work plans and budgets for cooperatives and BMUs.
• Carry out market surveys to monitor market performance.
• Help develop financial projections and capital needs estimates for project.
• Management of information desk.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements for Appointment
• Have a Diploma in either Fisheries management aquaculture. Natural resources Management or an equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution or any other equivalent field from a recognized institution
• Advanced skills in MS Office and professional statistical packages.
• Certificate in gender mainstreaming package will be an added advantage.
• Must be Kenya citizen.
• Experienced in government programs.
• At least possess minimum of 3 years’ experience in the similar or equivalent position
• Must be a public servant and conversant with a. fisheries sector b. Curriculum development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation c. Code of Regulation for civil servants.
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
• Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
