Lori Systems is a fast growing, technology venture based in Nairobi, Kenya led by Harvard & MIT graduates and backed by local & international investors and advisors. Leveraging 3 years of research at Harvard and in-house developed technology, Lori has built a logistics platform that is revolutionising the cargo-transport value chain in Africa – from the ground up. The relative cost of moving goods in the region is one of the highest in the world - leading to up to 75% of a product’s cost going to logistics (compared to 6% in the US). Lori enables the logistics space to operate at an order of magnitude more efficiently than it does today. Higher efficiency through Lori has been demonstrated to drive costs down which is expected to create new jobs & stimulate overall economic development in a tangible way. Lori is seeking a hands-on Summer MBA Fellow to join our Finance team. The role will require significant autonomy in the execution of strategy. The Fellow will leverage their experiences to drive business expansion and optimization – all inside an exciting, dynamic and fast-growing start-up environment. Crucial to this role is persistence and commitment. .

  Responsibilities
• Prepare, review and distribute monthly periodic reports;
• Compare periodic results with budget and prior periods and analyze fluctuations;
• Provide financial summaries and analysis to executive management;
• Develop financial models to forecast revenues, expenses, working capital etc.;
• Support in preparation and monitoring of Lori’s annual budget;
• Prepare responses to external audit, covenant, and survey requests;
• Identify and implement process improvements proactively;
• Analyze and interpret data to make recommendations to management;
• Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis independently;

Requirements
• Pursuing an MBA degree from a top university
• Ability to work with large volumes of data and possess advanced proficiency in Excel (i.e., formulas, macros, pivots, data manipulation)
• Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and working knowledge of SQL and SAP/BPC are a plus
• Track record of delivering results at a top company
• Experience interacting with multiple stakeholders at all levels
• Excellent communication skills
• Deep interests in East Africa
• >4 years Finance, Economics, Operations, Tech and/or Logistics industry experience is preferable
