Main Duties and Responsibilities 

• Supervise nursing and other staff in the section/unit to ensure that they perform their duties as required.
• Ensure all staff in the unit/section attend to their duties in strict adherence to the duty rota.
• Maintain availability of minimum stock of commodities and supplies to ensure optimal provision of services in the unit.
• Liaise with other hospital departments in the provision of Services.
• Ensure use of all Hospital’s automated systems, as appropriate, including the Hospital 
• Management Information System (HMIS)
• Regular update of the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS).
• In liaison with immediate supervisor, set performance targets, monitor and conduct periodic evaluations for the team.
• Ensures nurses adhere to set metrics of quality care indicators such as admission time, waiting times, discharge turnaround times and medication timings.
• Ensure and coordinate the implementation of the hospital’s strategic plan in the section/unit 
• within the framework of the vision, mission and culture of the hospital and other national and international healthcare frameworks.
• Develop and manage partnerships with clinicians, physicians and administrative counterparts to achieve common goals and promote integration of multidisciplinary work groups.
• Any other work-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with a minimum of seven (7) years working experience as a nurse

or

• Diploma in Nursing with a minimum of nine (9) years working experience as a nurse
• Must have successfully completed the six (6) months’ probation period and served at KUTRRH for a minimum period of one (1) year inclusive of the probation period
• Master’s degree in a relevant and related field is an added advantage
• Registration with Nursing Council of Kenya
• Leadership or supervisory experience will be an added advantage

• Ensure use of all Hospital’s automated systems, as appropriate, including the Hospital 
• Management Information System (HMIS)
• Regular update of the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS).
• In liaison with immediate supervisor, set performance targets, monitor and conduct periodic evaluations for the team.
• Ensure and coordinate the implementation of the hospital’s strategic plan in the section/unit within the framework of the vision, mission and culture of the hospital and other national and 
• international healthcare frameworks.
• Be the contact person in the Pediatric unit’s clinical referral, research and training matters and in the hospital.
• Coordinate pediatric referral services within and without the hospital according to the pediatric
• services needs in collaboration with other hospital sections and units and within the framework of the hospital and national referral policies.
• Develop and manage partnerships with clinicians, physicians and administrative counterparts to achieve common goals and promote integration of multidisciplinary work groups.
• Ensures nurses adhere to set metrics of quality care indicators such as admission time, waiting times, discharge turnaround times and medication timings.
• Offer specialized pediatric services’ advice to the hospital management and other
• sections/units and the general public in the appropriate media.In liaison with immediate supervisor, set performance objectives, monitor and conduct periodic evaluations for the team
• Any other work-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Higher Diploma as a pediatric care nurse with a minimum of seven (7) years nursing experience five (5) of which must have been in Pediatric care

or

• Diploma in Nursing and Higher Diploma as a Pediatric care nurse with a minimum of nine (9) years nursing experience six (6) of which must have been in Pediatric care
• Must have successfully completed the six (6) months’ probation period and served at KUTRRH for a minimum period of one (1) year inclusive of the probation period.
• Registration with Nursing Council of Kenya
• Master’s degree in a relevant or related field is an added advantage.
• Evidence of leadership or supervisory experience will be an added advantage

or

• Must have successfully completed the six (6) months’ probation period and served at KUTRRH for a minimum period of one (1) year inclusive of the probation period.
• Registration with Nursing Council of Kenya
• Master’s degree in a relevant or related field is an added advantage.

or

• Diploma in Nursing and Higher Diploma as a Renal care nurse with a minimum of nine (9) years nursing experience six (6) of which must have been in renal care
• Must have successfully completed the six (6) months’ probation period and served at KUTRRH for a minimum period of one (1) year inclusive of the probation period.
• Registration with Nursing Council of Kenya
• Master’s degree in a relevant or related field is an added advantage.
• Evidence of leadership or supervisory experience will be an added advantage

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Higher Diploma as a Casualty Accident & Emergency care nurse with a minimum of seven (7) years nursing experience five (5) of which must have been in Casualty Accident and Emergency care nursing

or

• Diploma in Nursing and Higher Diploma as a Casualty Accident & Emergency care nurse with minimum of nine (9) years nursing experience six (6) of which must have been in Casualty 
• Accident and Emergency care nursing
• Must have successfully completed the six (6) months’ probation period and served at KUTRRH for a minimum period of one (1) year inclusive of the probation period.
• Registration with Nursing Council of Kenya
• Master’s degree in a relevant or related field is an added advantage.
• Evidence of leadership or supervisory experience will be an added advantage

Additional certification in the following courses is an added advantage 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification,
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

• A certificate in Catheterization laboratory nursing

• Must have a valid resuscitation training certificate in life saving course. 
• Master’s degree in a relevant or related field is an added advantage.

or

Minimum Qualifications and Experience 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Higher Diploma as a midwifery care nurse with a minimum of seven (7) years nursing experience five (5) of which must have been in specialty midwifery care

or

• Diploma in Nursing and Higher Diploma as a midwifery care nurse with a minimum of nine  (9) years nursing experience six (6) of which must have been in midwifery care
• Must have successfully completed the six (6) months’ probation period and served at KUTRRH for a minimum period of one (1) year inclusive of the probation period.
• Registration with Nursing Council of Kenya
• Master’s degree in a relevant or related field is an added advantage.
• Evidence of leadership or supervisory experience will be an added advantage

Minimum Qualifications and Experience 

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from a recognized university
• Must have a Certificate in basic life support and Advanced Cardiac life support
• Evidence of leadership or supervisory experience will be an added advantage
• Computer literate
• Knowledge of relevant legislations as well as professional standards
• Proven track record of clinical research and training in a reputable institution
• Must be registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
• Must have a valid practice license.
