As Technical Manager you will be responsible for accomplishing objectives of the Technical department by planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and controlling all activities within the department. Fides Kenya Ltd, part of Dümmen Orange, is a leading company in growers and exporters of fresh cut flowers from Kenya to international markets. Fides Kenya operates under the trade name Dümmen Orange. At present Fides Kenya Limited operates on 22 hectares where the Chrysanthemums, Geranium, Perennials, Osteospermum, Asters and filler plants cuttings are grown. Our workforce has grown over the years to the current level of about 1000 employees. We are located 29 km south-east of Embu town and 169 km north-east of Nairobi, approximately 50 km south of Mount Kenya.
Your tasks and responsibilities
• Labour Management.
• Employee (Internal/external) relationship.
• Manages technical resources within budget and project schedule.
• Ensure the department has up to date SOPs and work instructions
• Plan and implementation of projects
• Conducting post-project evaluation and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements.
• Undertake cost benefit analysis of each equipment and advise the company accordingly.
Performance Criteria
• Completed projects within the set time frames, schedules and in adherence to quality standards .
• Updated reports on the progress of projects within the company.
• Keep the expenditure 3% below the budget.
• Accountable for preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
• Effective labour utilization.
• Efficiency.
Your profile
• Bachelors/diploma in mechanical engineering with additional knowledge in, maintenance, electrical and civil engineering.
• Management and business administration.
• 5 years managing a technical/maintenance team.
• Good Interpersonal/ people management skills.
• 10 years’ experience in general maintenance.
• Great analytical skills.
• Budget management.
• Ability To collaborate with other teams.
• Project management professional (PMP) certification will be an added advantage.
