Primary Purpose: This position is responsible for supporting the Special Projects Managers complete the full cycle of all new and recurring projects within RSC Africa, across all countries of operation in sub-Saharan Africa. The position will facilitate the delivery of projects while ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Essential Duties:
• Supports the Special Projects Managers in managing the successful execution of CWS RSC Africa projects across all the countries of operation.
• Ensures project activities meet project objectives and requirements by applying necessary knowledge, skills, tools and techniques.
• Assists with conducting research for proposed projects and provides reports of ongoing projects to meet the projects’ objectives and assigns to the direct reports as appropriate.
• Analyses and recommends new projects based on the tasks assigned and trends observed.
• Ensures the agreed project management methods, standards and processes are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assists in developing and maintaining the project library, filing, recording and reporting systems.
• Assist in co-ordinating the production of all reports and producing project summary reports to demonstrate success and areas for improvement at the end of each project execution.
• Develops and supports effective communication mechanisms and liaison processes with project stakeholders.
• Defines and documents procedures in accordance with agreed methodology
• Advises and assists project team members in the application of project procedures, disciplines and recording and reporting standards.
• Schedules meetings, sets agendas, and takes meeting notes ensuring that relevant action points are obtained and follow-up mechanisms are in place.
• In collaboration with the Special Projects Manager(s), ensures an adequate scoping, budgeting and forecasting exercise is completed and presented before beginning any proposed project.
• Ensures smooth cross departmental collaboration using project management tools that are effective and enhance efficiency.
• Maintains knowledge of the relevant guidelines and policies applicable to each project.
• Maintains a thorough working knowledge of the USRAP and refugee situations throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
• Any other duty assigned by management **

Qualifications:
Education & Certifications
:
· A Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Sociology, Business Management or Administration, or Systems Management or Computer Sciences or relevant Bachelor’s degree
· Master’s degree is an added advantage
· Professional training in PRINCE2 is an added advantage

Experience:
• 2 years’ paid experience in a similar role.
• Five (5) years of relevant paid work experience preferably in an international organization.**

Skills:
• Proficiency in Project Management software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
• Working knowledge of applicable laws and standards in the industry
• Demonstrated institutional knowledge of RSC Africa and USRAP processing – is an added advantage?
• Excellent results-driven project management skills
• Resilient self-starter who takes ownership of projects while working collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience working across diverse geographies and cultures (advantageous)

Abilities:
The Senior Project Support Officer must have the ability to:
• Take initiative in the development and completion of projects within the specified timeframe.
• Act with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality with RSC Africa administrative and operational information
• Clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences.
• Work with minimal supervision
• Manage large and diverse workload under pressure with competing priorities.
• Maintain the integrity of official records;
• Analyze and solve complex problems and make sound decisions;
• Maintain a high-performance standard with attention to detail;
• Work independently and contribute to overall operations of RSC Africa;
• Actively participate in the implementation of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP).
• Work well as a team in a multi-cultural environment while maintaining a high level of motivation.

Special Requirements:
· This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
· COVID Vaccination is strongly recommended for all successful candidates
· This position is office-based but may require travel in sub-Saharan Africa on short notice and under sometimes difficult conditions to meet demands of a dynamic operational program
o The candidate should be of good health, willing and able to travel extensively in often difficult conditions, and have a high degree of flexibility. Must have proof of Yellow Fever vaccination before traveling for RSC Africa
o A valid passport and the ability to maintain a valid passport throughout the entire appointment is required, which includes having enough passport pages for travel.
· Physical: This position requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, pushing/pulling, handling objects (manual dexterity), reaching above shoulder level, using fine finger movements and lifting/carrying heavy loads.**
· Environmental: Incumbents in this position will be exposed to excessive noise, marked changes in temperature and/or humidity, dust and infectious diseases, harsh weather climates, long work hours, bumpy roads, extended travel, excessive sun exposure, and non-ventilated spaces.
· All employees should be prepared to work from the CWS office within their location of hire. Remote work arrangements may vary depending on location and the governing rulings regarding the COVID-19 pandemic
