JOB DETAILS:
ROLE PURPOSE
• Assist the Area Sales Manager in transactional responsibilities for all sales activities, from sales lead generation through closure in the assigned territory.
• Assist the area manager in management of assigned accounts in the given region.
• To promote the Syngenta ICS offer to Agrovets and ensure effective ‘push-pull’ balance is achieved, in order to deliver business targets for the assigned area.
• To lead new ICS projects in the area and help define new business opportunities.
• To define and lead the creation of Syngenta ICS value offers geared at the farmers for value extraction-Under Small holder agreed sub concept.
• To deliver agreed ICS business targets under REAP Channel through the effective management and supervision of retail channel.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
• To develop and implement agreed sales plans, targets and budgets in accordance with the country strategy and objectives.
• To work with field advisors in assigned areas and supervise their operations to ensure effective promotion of Syngenta products in the assigned area.
• To work closely with Technical, Campaign teams, Sales & business teams to ensure appropriate customer touch and appropriate services are defined and delivered.
• To keep abreast of market trends, pricing and competition activities, giving regular information as changes come.
• To be Syngenta’s ambassador at the farm gate and ensure growers understand the Unique Selling Points of Syngenta ICS & the appropriate attributes & benefits that meet the needs of the customer and to ensure distributors & influencers understand the Unique Selling Points of Syngenta products and the desired positioning.
• To be technically competent, and provide accurate & appropriate recommendations in an ethical manner, in order that the growers achieve best return on investment from using a Syngenta ICS offer.
• To provide the grower with advice on the safe use & handling of pesticides.
• Ensure information about growers, influencers & channel is updated regularly
• To prepare and seek agreement to sales activities to ensure competitive advantage through coherent implementation of strategy and deliver the sales budget.
• To give regular feedback of sales strategy progress and propose changes that suits the sales environment at any one period.
• To understand segmentation and priority customer segments and work as part of a Crop Business Team

QUALIFICATIONS
Critical Knowledge:
• An Agricultural Degree with at least 3 years’ experience in channel management is critical or equivalent experience in agriculture.
• Extensive knowledge of the agricultural sales environment, including customer set up, distribution networks and Dynamics etc.
• Sound technical knowledge of products and agronomics.
• Displays an understanding of Syngenta corporate strategy and in-year objectives.
• Displays up to date knowledge of Syngenta products and service offerings.
• Displays an understanding of the sectors in which Syngenta operates.
• Display in-depth understanding of the Agrochemical landscape in Kenya.
• Exhibit a deep understanding of Small scale farmers and groups networking trends in Kenya.
• Must demonstrate digital literacy, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and also able to use digital communication tools such as Skype and Zoom. Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technology such as Salesforce.Com. Ability to use social media tools such as WhatsApp and Facebook to connect with farmers is also required.
