JOB DETAILS:

Basic job summary
To be responsible for reviewing patients symptoms, test results and determine a diagnosis and appropriate treatment for patients.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provide patient’s care by examining and discussing with patients in order to diagnose their health conditions, prescribing medicines and carrying out outpatient surgical procedures.
• Promote high quality treatment of the patients by carrying out particular procedures like specialist investigations, performing operations, ensuring that the pharmacy has the correct formulary and working in collaboration with other health care providers or professionals.
• Refer and admits patients needing investigations, special care and treatment.
• Prescribe medicines
• Make detailed notes as legal documentation of treatment beneficial to other health care providers or professionals.
• Liaise with other medical staff in the clinic to guarantee high-quality treatment.
• Uphold health and safety practices, especially concerning the handling and disposal of body fluids and sharp objects.
• Promote widespread health education.

Minimum Academic Qualifications:

• Degree in medicine from a recognised institution
• Registered medical practitioner with the Kenya Medical Practitioners Board eligible for consultant status.

Experience:

• At least 5 years working experience in a busy hospital.

• Able to respond to demanding and complicated patient situations.
• Effective communication with other doctors as well as patients.
• Maintain concise, timely and accurate confidential records of patients.
• Able to prioritize patients according to their clinical needs.
• Good time management skills to balance the clinical and other duties.
• Able to work under pressure.
• Ability to solve difficult problems.
• Should be able to challenge decisions.
• Strong decision making and practical skills.

Level of Education:
Bachelor Degree
