Background & Job Purpose
Nice Place Foundation is a safe place where 100 girls from Kajiado County in Kenya will find a safe place for education and protection. NPF was opened on 11th October 2021, with the premise of running a Leadership Academy with quality education for girls and being a safe place. The Foundation seeks an experienced Programme Director to advance and accelerate operationalization of the Foundation’s strategy and cultivate a working environment in which staff are working complementary to a common purpose, feel supported to realize their professional potentials, and able to deliver high-quality programmes that contribute to its strategic goals

Key Responsibilities
Organisational Leadership (25%)
• Play a leading role in the development of long-term organisational strategic plans, prepare the annual work plan for 2022, set up a youth ambassador programme, and reports that will advance the development of NPF.
• Provide direction and leadership to the team and volunteers to ensure that the Foundation is well run workplace, organisation, and business.
• Support the recruitment of students including the production of a brochure on the curriculum offer of the Leadership Academy.
• Closely cooperate with the Board, prepare papers for the Board meetings and participate in Board meetings as required. Papers include an operational quarterly report, quarterly expenditure overview, annual budget, risk management and risk register, and plans for donor funding.
• Coordinate and support exchanges and learning within and across the Foundation, facilitating cooperation and coherence across geographies.
• Cultivate an enabling workplace culture and empowering environment for staff to succeed and contribute to organisational goals.
• Represent the Foundation externally in public and private meetings and events as required.
Management and Operations (50%)
• Lead in the development of organisational structures and systems and accountabilities to ensure NPF has the capabilities to deliver on its work. This includes managing strategic change across the organisation and engendering a positive, consultative work culture.
• Hold regular scheduled meetings with the Board Chair and manage day-to-day operations
• Provide leadership, and organisational support to NPF staff in the design and development of new projects and proposals.
• Coordinate and support the operational side of the new project set-up, including ensuring necessary systems and structures for finance and staffing are in place in conjunction with the Lead HR Outsourcing firm
• Oversee the development of policies that increase effective partnerships.
• Ensure NPF’s programme of work is delivered in a safe and secure manner, that security protocols and procedures exist and are adhered to by staff and consultants.
• Develop and oversee the development of NPF information management systems and practices, ensuring IT systems are installed and kept up-to-date and effective (including secure online archiving of contracts and data storage systems, and calendars)
Programme Delivery Oversight (10%)
• Line-manage, providing oversight, support and advice to the Centre Manager and Lead Instructor.
• Support the production of internal and external reports that effectively communicate the work of the Foundation.
• Support the development and maintenance of systems for monitoring the quality and impact of NPF’s work.
Fundraising, grant management and donor relations (15%)
• Support the expansion and diversification of NPF’s funding sources, by contributing to funding bids that fall within the aims of the Foundation, to ensure sustainability and long term impact.
• Promote best practice in the documentation of projects, including narrative reports, financial and lessons learnt reports, and ensure that reporting complies with NPF’s procedures and policies and the requirements of funders.

Person Specification
Knowledge & Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree,
• A Master’s degree in Business Administration and Management or a relevant social science discipline – Education field is a significant advantage.
• A strategic thinker with proven ability to develop and implement long-term institutional plans in line with strategic planning processes, to develop organisational vision, direction and strategy, and a strong conceptual understanding of good organisational management practices.
• A commitment to development that promotes social equity and inclusion in line with NPF’s values and principles.

Experience
• A successful track record in organisational management, ideally within the non-governmental development sector for over 7 years in a Leadership role
• A track record in programme design and management is a significant advantage.
• A track record in proposal writing and fundraising.
• Proven commitment to a culture of learning and innovation.
• Demonstrable experience of developing and managing effective partnerships.

Skills & Abilities
• Proven leadership skills and self- driven, a go getter with strategic orientation with detailed analytical capabilities
• Able to support in establishing and improving operational systems and policies.
• Able to organise and manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently and effectively,
• Capable for managing institutional financial processes, including budget development and reporting with a track record in resource mobilization and an ability to nurture donor relations.
• Experienced in people management, able to work effectively with culturally diverse and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent spoken and written English skills.
