Roles and Responsibilities
The Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for leading, managing and supporting numerous strategic marketing and communications projects and initiatives, furthering our external and internal marketing and communications goals, including placing the company as thought leaders on its chosen markets, she/he will coordinate a variety of campaigns and initiatives whilst ensuring optimal implementation, dissemination, and optimization of information.
For now, the suitable candidate will report to the Group CEO and will work closely with the team members in the Marketing & Communications department, as well as the Business Development teams in our various departments. She/ he will champion the content and digital marketing strategies across a range of proactive, reactive, and strategically planned opportunities in digital media, including website and social media.
In more detail, the areas of responsibility include:
• Support the company and the function heads in developing the content and digital marketing strategies for Business Development.
• Support the development of content for marketing collateral, including daily, weekly and monthly internal and external newsletters, publications and social media where appropriate
• Manage the implementation of the company’s content approach across all platforms and ensure that execution is in-line with plans.
• Implement digital marketing approaches, including content management, SEO, mass mailing and social media.
• Develop a web strategy covering Zamara’s website.
• Manage all social media activities on multiple platforms, including managing the digital brand calendar.
• Work on content creation and updating the digital media, website and social media.
• Prepare digital media analytics reports.
• Design and develop creative digital marketing presentations, briefings, etc. that will maximize the company’s brand presence.
• Work on regular internal and external mailings and ensuring timely dissemination.
• Evaluate emerging technologies in digital marketing and provide perspective for adoption where appropriate.
• Monitor the social media marketplace to stay abreast of trends, identify opportunities and emerging issues, and understand new technologies and their adoption.
• Support the company through training on digital and social media management and relevant policies.
• Carry out varied administrative work as necessary.
The role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, with limited travel within and outside East Africa.

Experience and personal qualities
This role will require a high calibre and experienced marketing and communications professional with the highest levels of ambition and commitment.
The following experience is preferred:
• Degree qualification (preferably in Marketing, Media, Communications or Journalism). Masters qualification (preferably in Communication, Digital Marketing, Media or Journalism) will be an added advantage.
• Proven working experience in content and digital marketing in international organisations or professional services firms.
• Demonstrable experience leading and managing SEO, marketing database, mass mailing, social media or advertising campaigns.
• Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Net Insight, Omniture, Web Trends).
• Knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics.
• Working knowledge of HTML and web publishing and constraints.
• Experience in optimizing landing pages and user funnels.
• Working knowledge of ad serving tools (e.g., DART, Atlas).
• Experience in setting up and optimizing Google AdWords campaigns.
• Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking
• Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement.
• Have an excellent understanding of how to use digital marketing tools and techniques to increase the visibility, profile and reputation of Zamara.
• Good understanding of the Insurance industry is an advantage.
• Experience in developing and managing strong and complex relationships across countries as part of a centralized function and externally with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent project management skills
• Proficient in the use of IT Systems including Microsoft Office packages.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to communicate clearly with a range of people from diverse backgrounds.
• A minimum of at least five (5) years of relevant work experience.
