JOB DETAILS:
Lecturer-Subject Methods (Computer Science)
GRADE 12
Appointment to this position is either on permanent and pensionable terms or on a three (3) year renewable performance-based contract, depending on age, citizenship, or any other reason.

REQUIREMENTS
Academic Qualifications

Applicants must have:
1. An earned PhD in Subject Methods (Computer Science) or its equivalent from an accredited and recognized university

Experience
Applicants
1. Applicants with at least two (2) years relevant experience will have an added advantage.
2. Applicants should have evidence of contribution to university/research institution through activities such as participation in departmental management, students’ academic/research advising, school or university/institutional meetings, committee membership and related matters
In addition, applicants should
1. Be registered with the relevant professional body
2. Demonstrate community involvement (e.g. Member of BOG, SMC etc.)
Publications
Applicants with relevant Publications will have an added advantage

Skills
Applicants should demonstrate
1. Ability to teach/conduct research and supervise students and/or staff.
2. Ability to design and develop academic programmes and curricula.
3. Leadership Skills
4. Good Communication skills
5. Problem solving skills

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
1. Develop and review institutional curricula to ensure quality and cater for advancement in the
2. body of knowledge and meet market needs.
3. Prepare for lectures for systematic and effective delivery of content
4. Deliver the curricula through innovative methods to transfer knowledge and skills.
5. Maintain appropriate contact hours with students for effective learning by abiding to the
6. scheduled timelines.
7. Prepare teaching and instructional materials for students to maintain standards and
8. uniformity and ensure effective delivery of the teaching process.
9. Set, moderate, administer, mark, compile, report, and process exams to meet University
10. academic standards to evaluate acquisition of knowledge and ensure quality.
11. Establish linkages for students exchange programs and attachment for purposes of training
12. and capacity building
13. Participate in attachment, placements, field trips and teaching practice to equip students with
14. on the job skills.
15. Monitor students’ performance, progress, produce timely feedback, and seek ways to
16. improve performance and content retention.
17. Provide career guidance, Academic advising and mentoring of undergraduate and
18. postgraduate students during consultation hours to produce all round and well-grounded
19. individuals.
20. Ensure quality standards are maintained by ensuring students abide to policies and
21. regulations in class attendance and examination discipline.
22. Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in research activities
23. Identifying research needs in the society in order to inform potential areas of research and
24. contribute to the body of knowledge.
25. Develop and write proposals to inform and justify the need for research and source for funds
26. in accordance to donor regulations and ethical standards.
27. Conduct research by implementing objectives through use of relevant methods to increase in
28. the body of knowledge.
29. Disseminate and share research findings to inform and influence policy and provide solutions
30. to societal needs.
31. Aid the University in meeting its mandate while contributing to individual development and
32. standing of the University in research matters.
33. Identify and initiate external linkages with local and international bodies for purposes of
34. collaboration, research and funding.
35. Engage stake holders for purposes of curricula development, sharing experience and knowledge.
36. Undertake sensitization programs to create awareness on issues affecting local communities.
37. Participating in preparation of Department and Faculty strategic plans and other departmental activities.
38. Community Service and Outreach Responsibilities
39. Identify and initiate external linkages with local and international bodies for purposes of collaboration, research and funding.
40. Engage stake holders for purposes of curricula development, sharing experience and knowledge.
41. Undertake sensitization programs to create awareness on issues affecting local communities.
42. Perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Head of Department, Dean of Faculty or other Officer of the University in accordance with the University Statutes.
