Base Titanium Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Australian and UK-listed resources company, Base Resources Limited (ASX and AIM: BSE). Its flagship development is the Kwale Mineral Sands Project in Kwale County, 50km south of Mombasa. 

Mechanical Fitter

The main duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Carrying outtroubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance of plant equipment
  • Disassembling, reassembling and reinstalling equipmentin the plant using OEM manuals
  • Carrying out condition monitoring as required
  • Recording all completed work and parts used in the work order system
  • Setting up fitting tools on the job at hand and instructing fitter assistants on fitting tools as required
  • Accurately reading, interpreting and planning work according to drawings
  • Setting up and operating workshop machines including but not limited to conveyors, elevators and pumpsas instructed and as per standard operating procedures
  • Ensuring good housekeeping of workshop and work areas
  • Ensuring accurate records of maintenance activities are kept

To succeed you will be required to have:

  • A minimum of a Government Trade Certificate 1 in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a similar industry
  • Maintenance and diagnostic skills on relevant equipment
  • Experience in the use of electrical and manual tools including and not limited to grinders & drilling machines
  • Accuracy in record keeping and timekeeping
  • Ability to read and interprettechnical documents and drawings
  • Knowledge of safety standards
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to details

Auto Electrician

The main duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that all maintenance requests are attended to professionally and promptly
  • Performing and overseeing diagnostic fault finding and pressure testing
  • Performing diagnostic testing to establish if components have failed or are out of performance specification
  • Maintaining communication channels with clients in relation to expected downtime
  • Maintaining proper records on daily service sheets and planned maintenance service sheets
  • Promoting a safe working environment
  • Ensuring effective communications within and between shifts

To succeed you will be required to have:

  • A certificate/trade qualification in Automotive Engineering from a recognized institution 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ post training experience in the repair and maintenance of earth moving equipment
  • A sound and demonstrable understanding of engines, transmissions, drivetrains, hydraulics, and autoelectrics
  • A committed and positive attitude to safety
  • Experience in Automotive Air conditioning, CAT Electronic Technician (ET) and CAT Service Information Systems (SIS)
  • Demonstrable experience with Caterpillar mining and construction equipment
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork experience
  • Sound computer skills
  • A valid driver’s license

Electrician

The main duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring proper maintenance of electrical equipment, compliance with relevant codes, and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Troubleshooting, fault finding, and corrective maintenance to avoid unplanned equipment downtime.
  • Carrying out routine inspections and tests of all electrical machinery, earthing systems, apparatus, and medium (11/3.3kV) and low (400V) voltage power as required.
  • Ensuring accurate records of maintenance activities are maintained and updated regularly.
  • Reporting any situations which may affect the safe use of any electrical installation, apparatus or appliances.
  • Ensuring good housekeeping of the workshop and working areas.

To succeed you will be required to have:

  • A Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant post-training experience
  • Sound and demonstrable fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Sound practical experience in electrical isolation procedures
  • Experience with large electrical motors, plant automation, PLC controls (Schneider preferred), VSDs,sensors, single and three-phase power
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the electrical trade
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations
  • A good understanding of workplace Health, Safety and Environmental procedures
  • Demonstrable ability to work in a challenging environment with a multinational workforce

Instrument Technician

The main duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshooting, fault finding, corrective maintenance and reporting to the Electrical Supervisor to avoid unplanned equipment downtime 
  • Ensuring proper maintenance of instruments, compliance with relevant codes, and adherence to safety regulations
  • Updating schematic drawings on any repairs or alterations made in the control panels or recording instruments
  • Ensuring accurate records of instrumentation and control data are maintained and updated regularly
  • Maintaining metering instruments, recording instruments and process control systems
  • Maintaining accurate statutory Instrumentation & Control information including but not limited to calibration & functional test records
  • Testing, calibrating, installing and inspecting measuring and control instruments
  • Promoting a safe working environment by ensuring good housekeeping of the workshop and working area

To succeed you will be required to have:

  • A Diploma in Electronics and Instrumentation from a recognized institution 
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant post-training experience
  • Sound and demonstrable problem-analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work quickly and to have a keen sense of observation
  • Strong leadership and a people-oriented outlook
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork experience
  • A good understanding of workplace Health, Safety, and Environmental practices
  • Sound computer skills
