Technical Manager Kenya

Job objective

As Technical Manager you will be responsible for accomplishing objectives of the Technical department by planning, organizing, coordinating, directing and controlling all activities within the department. 

Fides Kenya Ltd, part of Dümmen Orange, is a leading company in growers and exporters of fresh cut flowers from Kenya to international markets. Fides Kenya operates under the trade name Dümmen Orange. At present Fides Kenya Limited operates on 22 hectares where the Chrysanthemums, Geranium, Perennials, Osteospermum, Asters and filler plants cuttings are grown. Our workforce has grown over the years to the current level of about 1000 employees. We are located 29 km south-east of Embu town and 169 km north-east of Nairobi, approximately 50 km south of Mount Kenya.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  1. Labour Management.
  2. Employee (Internal/external) relationship.
  3. Manages technical resources within budget and project schedule.
  4. Ensure the department has up to date SOPs and work instructions
  5. Plan and implementation of projects  
  6. Conducting post-project evaluation and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  7. Undertake cost benefit analysis of each equipment and advise the company accordingly.

Performance Criteria

  1. Completed projects within the set time frames, schedules and in adherence to quality standards .
  2. Updated reports on the progress of projects within the company.
  3. Keep the expenditure 3% below the budget.
  4. Accountable for preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
  5. Effective labour utilization.
  6. Efficiency.

Your profile

  1. Bachelors/diploma in mechanical engineering with additional knowledge in, maintenance, electrical and civil engineering.
  2. Management and business administration.
  3. 5 years managing a technical/maintenance  team.
  4. Good Interpersonal/ people management skills.
  5. 10 years’ experience in general maintenance. 
  6. Great analytical skills.
  7. Budget management.
  8. Ability To collaborate with other teams.
  9. Project management professional (PMP) certification will be an added advantage.

Account Manager Cut Flowers Kenya

For our Sales department in Naivasha, Kenya, we are looking for an Account Manager Cut Flowers.

Job objective 

Our organization grows and flourishes. This results in a fast-changing and, therefore, challenging environment. As Account Manager you are responsible to develop current accounts as well as explore new accounts within EMEA according to the product strategy. You sell Dümmen Orange young plants/Cut Flowers at optimal margins to growers. Cut Flowers consist out of, but not limited to Rose, Gerbera, Chrysanthemum, Carnations and Limonium.


Your tasks and responsibilities

  1. Keep current sales and actively search for new sales opportunities to achieve sales targets;
  2. Supporting and informing customers regarding assortment and market developments;
  3. Build and ensure strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs;
  4. Sharing basic technical knowledge of our portfolio and new varieties introduced at customer;
  5. Deliver commercial input for selection processes in breeding;
  6. Look closely at the insights of ornamental horticulture industry, competitors’ behaviors and market trends;
  7. Bridge to finance: provide accurate forecasts and manage account receivables; 
  8. Promote our branding and products, participate in shows, trials, open days and other events;
  9. Ensure that all the commercial activities are in compliant with our policies and guidelines.

Your profile

  1. Commercial mind-set and customer and service oriented; 
  2. Relevant bachelor degree (Horticulture/Agriculture); 
  3. Minimum Five years’ experience in Sales and Marketing of Roses or other Cut Flowers (Horticulture);
  4. Good command of the English language, both verbal and written;
  5. Proficient computer skills in MS Office applications;
  6. Positive and proactive mind-set, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and team player;
  7. Facilitating cross-functional collaboration;
  8. Well organized, drive for improvements and able to work independently;
  9. Driving license and willingness to travel;
  10. Knowledge of the Dutch language will be an added advantage.
