Analysts - Equities & Fixed Income

Job Summary

The holders of these positions will be responsible for continually and accurately generating research reports, investments analysis, and recommendations with regards to the Nabo Africa Fixed Income funds, Equities and segregated mandates to the investment management committee for the purpose of decision-making.

Principal Accountabilities: -

  • Conducting fundamental investment opportunity research and macro analysis in the Africa debt market space
  • Active investment idea generation, including performing country, sector and company screening
  • Conducting periodic updates on investment and market performance
  • Conducting country, industry and capital markets research so as to keep up with detailed knowledge about the African micro and macroeconomic environment and financial markets
  • Participating in the evaluation, formulation and implementation of investment strategies
  • Financial modelling and data analysis
  • Preparing written reports and verbal presentations
  • Contributing in investment meetings and review sessions
  • Actively participate in value creation and portfolio operations

Minimum Qualifications  : -

  • Bachelor’s degree in Financial Economics, Financial Engineering, Finance, Actuarial Science or related (an aptitude for numbers is a must for candidates with a non-finance background)
  • Enrolled in or pursuing a related professional course and/or exams (CFA, ACCA, CAIA, CQF, CPA)
  • Relevant 2-3 years’ work experience in an investment management environment
  • Good analytical and quantitative reasoning 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills -ability to adhere to deadlines, multi-task and be able to prioritize, 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with demonstrated creativity & innovation in business

Private Wealth Financial Advisor

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Develop a knowledge of the client’s entire financial situation and be able to structure a goals-based investment and financial plan.
  • Develop and deliver private wealth education presentations and sessions to clients and prospects.
  • Develop relationships with management teams of institutions, as well as cultivating relationships with key industry players in listed and non-listed space
  • Collaborates with the Investment Management and Enablement Teams regarding investment strategy and client portfolio structure.
  • Provide market feedback to facilitate the development of new and enhancement of existing products that meet client needs. Provide product recommendations
  • Continuously update and provide feedback on client FAQs
  • Generate and update sales customer relationship management system
  • Maintain a deal pipeline and continuously update on progress
  • Participate in training IFAs on Nabo products
  • Assist in the development of a competitive commission structure and provide feedback on market
  • Drive business results and acquire new assets under management through selling financial products to the existing client base and new client acquisition.
  • Ability to generate KES 100 Mn in sales per month through selling financial products to existing clients and new clients
  • Develop a knowledge of client’s financial needs and be able to communicate a goals-based investment plan to meet their needs
  • Provide market feedback to facilitate the development of new products and enhancement of existing products
  • Continuously update and provide feedback on client FAQs
  • Generate and update customer sales log
  • Maintain a deal pipeline and continuously update on progress

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field (Investments, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration)
  • Enrolled in or progress toward a related professional course and/or certificate (CFA, ACCA, CPA, CAIA)
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in investment management
  • Strong knowledge of MS tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Have a good understanding of investment products in general
  • Have existing relationships that meet the profile of a Nabo client

Senior Investment Associate

Principal Accountabilities

Direct AUM mobilization:

  • Identify and profile target institutional clients to gain an understanding of their investment strategy across frontier and emerging markets .
  • Prepare investment proposals and provide supporting investment – related material to be used by the sales team in pitching to institutional clients .
  • Prepare goal - based financial plans to address needs such as education, lifestyle, home ownership, retirement etc. for individual clients .

Content Generation:

  • Brand visibility: prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly publications for circulation to our target clients covering topics such as market performance, asset class performance and various macroeconomic events/ indicators across Africa.
  • Video content: prepare and package investment -related material for generation of video content to be used in promoting brand visibility .
  • Investment advisory: package investment deals identified by the investment team for circulation to our target clients with an aim of triggering funding .
  • Other content: prepare investment related marketing collateral to be used by the marketing team during events such as investor clinics, investment brochures.

Client Servicing

  • Prepare and present macroeconomic outlook and investment pe r formance reports for our institutional clients.

Risk and Compliance

  • Work with investment manager, risk, legal and operations teams to monitor investment guideline compliance .
  • Adhere and remain up to date on regulatory developments covering capital markets across Africa .

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Financial Economics, Financial Engineering, Finance, Actuarial Science, or related background.
  • Possess professional qualification (CFA, ACCA, CAIA, CQF, CPA).
  • Good analytical and quantitative reasoning. 
  • Relevant 3 years’ work experience in an investment management environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills-ability to adhere to deadlines, multi-task and be able to prioritize.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with demonstrated creativity & innovation in business.
