JOB DETAILS:
The Head of the Anthropology Unit is supervised by the Executive Manager and will work closely with the other colleagues and team members.
Main Responsibilities
• Building the structure and the capacities of the Unit
• Identify key areas of interest and pertinent links with operations by liaising with other MSF entities in the region and globally.
• Develop and implement an Anthropology framework and applicable approaches in relation with MSF field operations
• Support and advice the operations teams during the conception, implementation and monitoring of medical and paramedical projects;
• Support the operations teams on context and security analysis and management.
• Conduct field researches on thematic relevant to medical and paramedical projects/programs. Researches results to be published for internal and in some case external use.
• Collect, analyse and update cognitive material related to MSF missions.
• Identify relevant stakeholders, actors in the area of anthropology applied to the humanitarian context.
• Manage and update the Unit's database.
• Prepare mission reports and trainings scheduled in the Unit's activities.
• Be available for field visits wherever and whenever it is necessary
• Recruitment and training of the Anthropology Unit team when required.

Job requirement
• Relevant degree in anthropology, social work, or similar.
• Proven research work for at least five years.
• Published papers would be advantageous.
• Demonstrated experience in the subject matter including design strategies in a multifaceted and diverse stakeholders organisation
• Complex project management experience
• Ability to produce high quality, succinct reports with clear recommendations.
• Excellent written and presentation skills across audiences with diverse backgrounds
• Experience in working for a medical humanitarian or development not for profit organisation
• Experience in working in a multi-cultural, diverse environment, urban and rural.
• Excellent knowledge of various ways in which people communicate
• Commitment to and experience of advancing equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace
• Good level of written and spoken English, knowledge of French is an advantage.
