JOB DETAILS:
Debrailler (Re-Advertisement)
In pursuit of fulfilling the Mission and Vision of the University, a suitably qualified, visionary, competent, dynamic and experienced professional with impeccable track record is required to fill this position.
In addition to the above outlined and the below listed qualifications and responsibilities, the candidate should also possess the following skills; time management skills, computer literate, have technical skills on brailler handling, Patient and empathetic.
The candidate should also be physically fit as the job requires a lot of movement.

Qualifications (Education, Skills and Experience)
124. Certificate or diploma or equivalent in Brailling and debrailling.
125. Professional training and paid or volunteer experience working with individuals with disabilities.
126. Knowledge of Braille transcription methods.
127. Knowledge of general problems and behaviors of visually impaired students.
128. Knowledge of effective methods and techniques for assisting with the skill development and educational progress of visually impaired students.
129. Ability to perform Braille transcription work.
130. Ability to operate Braille equipment, a computer and specialized software and Braille embosser.

Key responsibilities also include
Duties and responsibilities
131. Perform a variety of Braille transcription work.
132. Assists Lecturer with the preparation of classroom and teaching materials for visually impaired students; and assists with the instruction and supervision of students.
133. Transcribes materials from print to Braille and Braille to print.
134. Operate braille equipment and/or computers in transcribing materials from print to Braille.
135. Provide specialized assistance in Braille reading and writing.
136. Maintain confidentiality to protect privacy of students, families and staff.
137. Assist with the supervision, guidance and instruction of students in a wide variety of areas.
138. Check students’ progress and assists with individual work assignments.
139. Administer tests, assignments and examinations.

Requirement
140. Certificate or diploma or equivalent in Brailling and debrailling.
141. Professional training and paid or volunteer experience working with individuals with disabilities.
142. Knowledge of Braille transcription methods.
143. Knowledge of general problems and behaviors of visually impaired students.
144. Knowledge of effective methods and techniques for assisting with the skill development and educational progress of visually impaired students
145. Ability to perform Braille transcription work.
146. Ability to operate Braille equipment, a computer and specialized software and Braille embosser.
147. Must be trained in orbit reader 20.
