Communications Officer

Key responsibilities for Communications Officer
• Develop, write and edit marketing and communications materials, including press releases, blog posts and have an oversight role of the social media and school newsletter.
• Promote communications and marketing materials through appropriate social channels
• Track analytics and create reports detailing successes and failures of communications campaigns
• Ensure that all communications and marketing material aligns with brand standards
• Work in collaboration with the Business Development and Marketing teams’ members to conceptualize and implement communications strategies and campaigns
• Respond to media inquiries and perform media outreach to achieve brand placement in publications
• Develop escalation protocols for managing communication crises, should they arise
• Photography, videography and live streaming of school events
• Create Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos
• Take a minimum teaching load of Media Studies
• Supervise the Digital Media Assistant
• Website management
• Plan, implement, manage, monitor, and upgrade the organization's website in collaboration with the web host.
• Create appropriate website content aligned with the organization’s strategy.
• Conduct content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information.
• Respond to and troubleshoot all website issues.
• Identify and respond to all website security breaches.
• Ensure that the website is protected by enabling the appropriate security measures.
• Update HTML, CSS and JavaScript regularly.
• Ensure website quality and efficiency by conducting regular test plans.
• Improve the User Experience of the website regularly.
• Collaborate with all staff and management to ensure that the website aligns with brand strategy and meets the organization’s standards.
• Create strategies to grow subscriber base and web traffic metrics.
• Ensure full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations.
• Keep up-to-date with industry best practices and monitor competitor websites

Qualifications for Communications Officer
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, Public Relations, International relations or any related field.
2. 2+ years prior experience in a communications or marketing role with website management responsibility
3. Evident photography, videography and live streaming skills
4. Knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator is an asset
5. Must be resourceful and take initiative even when given minimal direction
6. Highly proficient in HTML, XHTML, CSS design, cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, firewalls (functionality and maintenance), Access, mySQL and JavaScript.
7. Great understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Paid Per Click (PPC).
8. Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills
9. Must possess exceptional content creation and writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content
10. Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team.
11. Superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
