JOB DETAILS:
1. MAIN PURPOSE:
• The Bio-Medical Technician will be based at NPHLS, will oversee the information management
• system for tracking equipment maintenance and calibration, and will work with NPHL, and CDC
• Kenya to develop training program to strengthen the equipment maintenance and calibration.

2. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
KEY AREA ACTIVITIES
Technical Support
• Prepare, edit and implement SOPs & QMS documents on calibration of different laboratory equipment under NPHL calibration laboratory scope.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment on measurement parameters: time, speed, temperature, volume, mass, pressure
• Prepare monthly calibration status reports
• Participate in management review meetings
• Conduct routine training & SMEs on best calibration practices
• Induct and train interns and attachees at the DLS calibration laboratory.
• Participate in annual accreditation assessment and surveillance accreditation exercises.
• Perform annual PPMs (planned preventive maintenance) of laboratory equipment located at DLS-NPHL grounds.
• Prepare maintenance reports for PPMS and corrective breakdown at DLS - NPHL grounds.
• Any other duty assigned by DLS management

3. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• At least a diploma in medical engineering.
• Training on Laboratory equipment calibration from a recognized institution for the
• following measurements: volume, mass, temperature, rotational speed and pressure

4. Experience
• At least Three (3) years’ work experience with 1 years of experience in installation, testing, maintenance and repair of instrumentation, power supplies and electro/mechanical power
• transmission devices for clinical, biomedical or radiological equipment including class II
• Biological Safety Cabinets, or equivalent, is required.
