StepWise is partnering with Zalego Academy to hire a web developer Attaché.
StepWise is making an impact by providing people with physical disabilities in the developing world with meaningful employment in the digital economy. Our highly motivated and skilled teams located in East Africa perform data processing tasks such as transcription and digitization, data labelling and annotation for machine learning and artificial intelligence data sets, and content moderation.
StepWise has offices in Austin, Texas and Nairobi, Kenya.
About the Job:
Zalego Academy in collaboration with Stepwise are pleased to announce the Zalego ICT for Attachment Program. Zalego is a leading capacity building company and a leading Industry based training provider offering a wide range of skill based, hands-on programs that are tailored for the Kenyan ICT sector. With the rapidly changing technology, it is critical to mentor candidates and equip them with digital skills so they can quickly transition into the constant changes in the industry.

Responsibilities
• Design, build and maintain website and web applications to solve current problems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team to define, design and ship in new features to the existing solutions.
• Working on bug fixing and improving application development.
• Continuously discover, evaluate and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
• Create website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices
• Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities
• Ready to learn and undertake different challenges in programming.
• Editing, writing, or designing Website content, and directing team members who produces the content.
• Determining user needs by analyzing technical requirements.
Requirements
• BSc. Degree in Computer Science, IT, ICT, BBIT or related Subjects or a Diploma in ICT, under, KNEC Examination Body or relevant experience.
• Third or fourth year student in a university.
• Student in their third module of KNEC curriculum for the college student.
• Familiarity with at least one of the following programing languages: HTML, CSS, PHP
• Knowledge of programming language and technical terminology.
• High degree of independent judgment and design thinking.
Skills
• Have basics of HTML, CSS, JavaScript languages.
• Have the background in working with server-side languages not limited to PHP.
• Dedicated team player.
• Solid understanding of the web development concept including servers.
• Strong Communication Skills.
• Able to develop ideas and processes and clearly express them.
• Creative problem solver.
• Solid ability in both written and verbal communication.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
