Organizational Overview KMET is an indeginous Kisumu-based non governmental organization established to promote quality health and education services across Kenya. KMET was founded in 1995 and registered under the Trustees Act in 1996. 

Project Officer – Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health

Main duties

  • Provide high-level technical expertise and credibility for the delivery of PAC services for adolescents in the focal county.
  • Stay up to date with evidence and trends in the global sexual and reproductive health field, with emphasis in the latest clinical evidence regarding comprehensive abortion care, and use this knowledge and expertise to support delivery of the project.
  • Together with team members oversee the development and quality assurance of - technical guidelines, protocols, informational materials and all other relevant resources required to support increased access to quality SRH services by adolescent girls.
  • Serve as a technical lead in clinical quality assurance of sexual and reproductive health services, and provide guidance and support to the service providers.
  • Assist the Coordinator in facilitating training across the program, reviewing curricula, tools, conducting field visits, addressing identified gaps and promoting systematic use of data to improve the quality of project’s approaches and interventions.
  • Work with the lead mobilizer to strengthen capacity of local CHVs/YPPs and Community Based Organizations and private vendors to provide services for girls.
  • Work closely with the project Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officer to systematically conduct data analysis at the program levels, producing data dashboards and learning briefs that can be used to inform interactive program design and implementation and to routinely share results with consortium partners and funders.
  • Promote technical learning across the project, by hosting and facilitating innovative exchange sessions between participating providers.
  • Ensure that the program, while driving innovation, promotes an approach that minimizes the risk of potential harm to girls and other stakeholders.
  • To deliver evidence-informed interventions that achieve expected results while adopting a robust safeguarding approach across the program cycle.
  • Collaborate with the program’s M&E team to ensure that system produces quality and timely data required to inform and improve delivery of results.
  • Support the Project Coordinator to identify, monitor and manage any risks to the attainment of program results, particularly those related to quality service provision and safeguarding.
  • Support fundraising and resource mobilization initiatives including generation of innovative ideas, provision of appropriate data and information needed to develop concepts and proposals.
  • Represent the project in an appropriate stakeholder engagements and meetings at County level.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualification in Nursing/Clinical/Pharmacy/Public Health is preferred. Must be dully registered with requisite bodies.
  • Technical expertise of 5 years in the field of quality of care, community health strategy in sexual and reproductive health and rights projects will be an added advantage.
  • Experience of engagement with both public & private health sector and coordination.
  • Ability to work and hold planning sessions with technical working groups and stakeholders at the County level.
  • Strong experience in facilitating trainings and development of materials including VCAT, mentorship, support supervision tools and providing institutional support and technical assistance on issues related to ASRH service provision.
  • Experience in RH/maternal newborn and child health programming including facility and communitybased health service improvement is essential. 
  • Understanding of National policies on RH/MNCH issues and how to contribute to their development with political analysis skills, sensitivity, and diplomacy.
  • Should possess excellent report writing and presentation skills.

4 Project Officers - Community Engagement

Main Duties;

  • Lead in community program coordination and implementation
  • Coordinate technical assistance for program implementation
  • In liaison with the Policy and Advocacy Lead, interpret and solve policy related issues
  • Assist the team in the design, implementation, monitoring and assessment of activities
  • Write reports, assist in development of annual work plans, project monitoring tracking matrices, target implementation plan and relevant reports as required.
  • Work closely with program staff to ensure quality implementation of programs.
  • Support fundraising and resource mobilization initiatives including generation of innovative ideas, provision of appropriate data and information needed to develop concepts and proposals.
  • Assist in the development of new program approaches that are linked to related services

Desirable Qualifications

  • A Degree/Diploma Qualification in any Social sciences or Public Health with extensive experience in community-based work or related field is required; additional certifications in health-related areas are an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Community mobilization for FP/ASRH related issues.
  • Be well versed with ASRH/RMNH related policies and guidelines.
  • Experience working with MOH systems and community health strategies.
  • Knowledgeable in material development and review as well as training facilitation.
  • Excellent communications skills – both verbal, written and presentation.
  • MUST be ready to travel over long distances via road.
  • Computer skills including demonstrated hands on-experience with MS Suite-Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Finance Officer

Main duties:

  • Process and review payment vouchers for payments, travel advance requests and other payments requests. 
  • Track outstanding advances and follow up to ensure all are cleared on timely basis and in line with KMET’s financial policies.
  • Review all travel expense reports, workshop expense reports and any other reconciliations for authorization, accuracy, allowable expenses, charge codes and accounting for advances.
  • Follow up on resolutions of all questioned items and see that they are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for posting transaction in MS Navision.
  • Respond on a timely basis to all donor inquiries, reconcile all statements with KMET’s records and update the Finance Manager on any discrepancies.
  • Respond to staff inquiries on a timely basis on any financial issues.
  • Disburse all KMET money transfer payments and funds transfer through Mpesa Platform.
  • Prepare management accounts for updating donors and staff. 
  • Carry out monthly Bank Reconciliations.
  • As part of the Finance team, identify opportunities for streamlining office processes, make recommendations to the finance team and implement changes.
  • Participate in proposal development to assisting with project budgeting and costings.
  • Any other finance related assignments as maybe delegated.

Desired Qualifications

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Professional Accountancy training with CPA - K level qualification.
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience with NGO(s).
  • Experience in managing of project funds, preparation of bank reconciliations, financial statements, and financial reporting and data analysis, auditing, and taxation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and possess sound technical skills.
  • Analytical approach to work with ability to
  • Problem-solving skills, creative and initiative.
  • Sound planning and organizational skills
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
  • Able to work as part of a team and to build strong working relationships.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word and Excel, hands on work experience with MS Navision/Financial management software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

3 Data Officers

Main Duties 

  • Data entry into the program databases – ERP and any other data management system.
  • Track submitted data and share the reporting rates with the MEL Officer for follow up.
  • Perform data quality audit and control procedures.
  • Preparing daily and weekly reports
  • Ensure mobiles phone/technology deployed for programs implementation is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software.
  • Trouble shoots all technology issues including hardware, software, and network operating
  • System on the ERP platform and mobile phones.
  • Provide training and orientation to new users, project participants and staff on various technologies.
  • Build capacity through training and mentorship of providers in the facilities supported in the county.
  • Participate in stakeholders’ activities to ensure incorporation of the project activities into the subcounty and county level workplans.
  • Work closely with County health records officers (CHRIO) to manage data quality and ensure all the facilities utilize data for decision making.

Desired Minimum Qualifications

  • A holder of a Diploma in Computer Science (IMIS), Mathematics, Statistics, or a related fields connected to data management studies.
  • Minimum of two years’ work experience in a public/private government health facility with different EMR systems and proficient in accessing, copying and cleaning of EMR.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in at least one statistical analysis package (SAS, STATA, and SPSS): experience in managing electronic data collection in clinical settings added advantage.
  • Demonstrated analysis, communication, interpersonal, report writing and presentation skills

Project Driver

Main Duties 

  • Experienced driver with a safe driving record, with hands on experience in driving a variety of 4-wheel drive vehicle makes and models in rugged terrain.
  • Collect/deliver official letters, invoices, and parcels, as needed.
  • Maintain the office vehicles (including ensuring that routine checks for tyre pressure, engine oil, brake fluid, radiator coolant, fuel level, battery water level, etc. are carried out).
  • Maintain daily vehicle logbook.
  • Ensure insurance, registration and general service schedules are up to date.
  • Ensure that vehicles are always clean, including the engine compartment.
  • Ensure vehicle keys are appropriately maintained and securely stored.
  • Ensure that the general wear and tear of fittings of the vehicles are checked.
  • Ensure that vehicles are always properly equipped with spare tyres, tool kits, jacks, wheel spanners, tow ropes, jump leads, fan belts, fire extinguishers and first aid toolboxes.
  • Ensure punctuality and safety at all times of self and staff passengers
  • Observe road and traffic laws, rules, and regulations
  • Ensure own driving license is always present and valid during official duty
  • Ensure no contraband/prohibited goods are in the vehicle
  • Ensure no unauthorized personnel drive and/or are carried in the vehicle
  • Abide by the authorized driving times; adhere to the laid down departure times for all locations as stipulated
  • other administrative duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Minimum of secondary school or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years driving with experience in long distance; defensive driving skills training will be an advantage with a valid PSV driving qualification.
  • Possess a mechanics Government Trade Test III is an added advantage
  • Valid driver’s license. 
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) with Minimum Computer skills.
  • Good driving record references.
  • Proactive, takes ownership, mature with a flexible personality.
