Job description
Are you passionate about financial technology, upscaling informal buisnesses and want to experience the perks of a start-up life?
Asilimia, an award winning venture backed fintech startup that enables users to use one of the biggest and most popular mobile money wallets mpesa for free,is looking for an energetic and creative Product Designer to join our team, on a fixed term basis to work on our new app Leja.

You will manage the research, concept, design & development of our product from start to finish. Using your expert design skills you'll bring the product to life through in-depth knowledge of working with traders and users to deliver on the vision.
You will be working on our growing product and reporting directly to the Head of Product.

Responsibilities
On a daily basis, you will be required to:
• Identify product / customer needs and define the scope of intervention with stakeholders.
• Define personas from user interviews, Focus groups, questionnaires …
• Design user journeys.
• Define or redefine the information architecture - Card sorting.
• Lead ideation workshops such as Crazy 8, Six to one ...
• Make Wireframes using tools like Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, Axure.
• Create interactive prototypes using InVision, Marvel App, Craft, Flinto, Principle, FramerJS, Origami.
• Prepare and animate user tests, test and test again!
• Write optimization recommendations and iterate.
• Work on a daily basis with Product Managers, dev teams, testers and all stakeholders

Qualifications
• You have at least 2 years of experience in UX and UI Design in a consulting firm, an agency, a startup or a large group.
• You are able to conceptualize innovative interfaces, map routes, identify new features, prioritize user needs.
• The techniques of "Design Thinking" no longer hold any secrets for you!
• You have already worked in agile and you have mastered methods such as Lean UX or Design Sprint.
• Product Culture vs Project Culture, you make a perfect difference.
• You understand the characteristics and challenges of a Product organization.
• You like to work in a team and are a good communicator.
• You know how to identify problems and always offer solutions.
• You like challenges, get out of your comfort zone to progress.
• You adopt a transformative approach: you have convictions and you want to spread the good word of Product Design.
• Your pedagogical qualities are recognized and you remain focused on the quality perceived by the customer.

Required => You live in Nairobi and are able to perform user studies in specific neighbourhoods.
The icing on the cake, you came from a design school.
