Job Summary
Responsible for participating in vetting risks through survey to ensure that only quality business is accepted into the company at acceptable terms and continuous appraisal of risk exposures for existing risks in our books as well as advising on new risk trends to ensure profitability and achievement of the set loss ratio targets.
Key Responsibilities
• Risk assessment at insurance application for selected risks to determine their acceptability or otherwise and to guide underwriters on the exposure(s) inherent in the risk(s).
• Review of our book to determine/profile risks to be surveyed.
• Liaison with Business development team, underwriters, and intermediaries to conduct risk surveys.
• Collate and assess risk information on site, including capturing photographic evidence, estimating the nature, size and frequency of possible losses considering the proposed/insured risks and all the business aspects of the client.
• Advise clients on-site and discuss opportunities and requirements to reduce the risk of future insurance claims.
• Preparation of survey reports and communication of Risk improvement recommendations suitable for risk mitigations
• Follow up on implementation of risk improvement recommendations and do re-surveys where applicable.
• Develop safety programs compatible with customer needs and resources aimed at mitigating possible losses.
• Training on risk management to staff from time to time.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably civil engineering)
• Insurance or risk management knowledge will be an added advantage
