Karuri Water and Sanitation Company Limited (KAWSCO) was established on 24th April 2007. It is a Company incorporated under the Company’s Act and fully owned by the County Government of Kiambu. It is an agent of the County Government offering oversight and it is mandated to provide quality water and sanitation services within Kiambaa Sub County. KAWSCO is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and gender equality within the organization and is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to fill the position of Technical Manager.
Technical Manager
Job Grade: Grade 2
Engagement: Five Years Contract renewable upon proving exemplary performance.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the position holder will plan, direct, coordinate, control and manage the Company's operations and maintenance in infrastructure to supply water and sewerage services to the required standards and in compliance with the Company's policy while cost-saving and surpassing targets. The position will also require the holder to design, mobilize resources, and implement new water and sanitation infrastructures geared towards increasing coverage sustainably.
The Job
(i) Developing departmental strategies, targets, policies, procedures, budgets and work plans to facilitate the achievement of overall company strategies.
(ii) Coordinating, controlling, monitoring and managing the Company's technical operations and ensuring maintenance of infrastructure for quality water and sanitation services
(iii) Designing, implementing and ensuring proper supervision of all projects undertaken by the company or its development partners.
(iv) To ensure constant supply and distribution of potable water for commercial, industry and domestic purposes.
(v) Ensuring proper treatment of water and maintenance of quality standards
(vi) Developing and implementing strategies to ensure that Non – Revenue Water is reduced to acceptable levels.
(vii) Ensure timely and economic completion of projects
(viii) Ensure economic and timely availability of maintenance and installation of facilities and equipment
(ix) Ensure efficient methods of disposal of effluent
(x) Ensure treatment and proper disposal of sanitation
(xi) Responsible for water conservation and demand management for the water utility.
(xii) Responsible for ensuring the preservation of water catchment areas.
The Person
We are looking for a self-driven, highly motivated individual with a passion for offering first-class service to the Company. The candidate should have;
Bachelor of Science in Civil or Water Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution with five (5) years of relevant experience (three of which must be in a managerial or supervisory position).
The successful applicant will be required to provide chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 clearance certificates before taking up the position.
Computer literacy
Demonstrate leadership skills
Demonstrate knowledge of the current trends in the water sector.
Work Hours: 8
Experience in Months: 60
