ABOUT OISCOVERY LEARNING ALLIANCE
Our client. Discovery Learning Aliiance with funding from DFID through its Girls‘ Education Challenge and partners are implementing the second phase of Discovery Project [DP2] in nearly 1,500 Primary and over 500 junior secondary schools in: Ghana. Kenya and Nigeria.
THE ROLE
The Senior Technical Lead joins IJLA in liaising with government, DFID in contributing to wider education sector learning, planning and policy dialogue. The main objective is to achieve rapid impact on targeted educational outcomes - teaching improvements and learning gains for marginalized girls. focusing on mid to upper primary student mastery of basic English literacy and numeracy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Guide teacher trainer-coaching manager's country wide in their technical oversight and support of DP2 technical teams geared toward strengthening staff capacities and bringing consistent, higher levels of quality in their training, coaching and mentoring of teachers.
• Distil and incorporate DP2 approaches, learning over time what is working [and not} to advance teaching. learning and transition objectives, grounded in M&E data.
• Share learnings, engage regularly with education offices in project areas with the aim of advancing local ownership and sustainability and over time integrating successful interventions within the education system.
• Broadly, work closely with DLA‘s stakeholders, share evidence of what works and connect more visibly with national government, DFID and partners for cross learning and joint efforts to advance shared aims at scale.
• SKILLS AIID QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong education and teaching background in areas such as effective teaching and learning of primary-level English and Mathematics, student-centred approaches, equity and inclusion, formative assessments.
• Ability to marry knowledge and international best practices with the local realities of education sector.
• Experience translating theory into practical and contextually appropriate guidance and support
• Significant work capturing and disseminating evidence of impact and learning.
• Experience working with Ministry of Education. contributing to education policy dialogues and education sector review and planning processes.
• Strong communications skills, with capacity to produce polished reports and presentations.
• A team player with excellent inter-personal and networking skills.
