The Judicial Service Commission is established under Article 171 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, with a mandate of promoting and facilitating the independence and accountability of the Judiciary and the efficient, effective and transparent administration of justice.
VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: SENIOR PROTOCOL OFFICER (JSG 4)

Job Reference Number: V/No.7/2022
Number of Positions: One (1)
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Gross Salary Scale: Kshs. 169,800 – 227,600 p.m

Job Purpose:
The job holder will be responsible for managing and overseeing protocol processes, procedures, standards and guidelines within the Judiciary.

Reporting Responsibilities
The job holder is responsible to a designated Supervisor
Area of Deployment: Office of the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
i. Implementing Judiciary protocol processes, procedures, standards and guidelines
ii. Planning and organizing of incoming and outgoing Judiciary visits;
iii. Maintaining contacts of local and foreign stakeholders;
iv. Coordinating protocols of all VIP ceremonies, meetings and special events;
v. Organizing and coordinating of official events;
vi. Coordinating processing of passports and other travel documents;
vii. Receiving, accompanying and seeing off official delegations and Judiciary guests;
viii. Maintaining linkages with other institutions and stakeholders;
ix. Engaging with government officials and other stakeholders on events planning.
x. Preparing of periodic departmental reports

Job Requirements: Academic and Professional Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have: –
i. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following social sciences disciplines: Public Relations, Communication, Diplomacy, or International Relations, any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
ii. A Professional Diploma qualification in any of the Following: Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Corporate Communication or any other relevant qualifications from a recognized university/institution;
iii. A Senior Management Course from a recognized institution;
iv. Proficiency in computer application;
v. Membership to a relevant professional body with good standing

Experience:
i. Minimum of Six (6) Years relevant work experience
ii. At least three (3) years at Supervisory Management Level

e) Applicant’s recent coloured passport size photographs (2 No.); and
f) Five (5) samples of any professional writings, including but not limited to judgments, advocacy submissions in courts, scholarly writings or any legal publications that the applicant has authored.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit valid clearance certificates from the following bodies during the interview: –
• Kenya Revenue Authority
• Higher Education Loans Board
• Directorate of Criminal Investigation
• Ethics and Anti–Corruption Commission
• A recognized Credit Reference Bureau
• Recommendation from the relevant Professional Body, as the case may be, as being in Good Standing
• Advocates Complaints Commission
• Law Society of Kenya
