Job Purpose
Providing legal advice to ensure the best legal approach is taken by the Placement Service
Job Responsibilities
• Providing legal advice to ensure the best legal approach is taken by the Placement Service
• Drawing up and submitting contracts, agreements and other legal documents;
• Preparing and monitoring of the Division’s budgets and expenditures;
• Undertaking research on different information to ensure the Placement Service is acting in accordance with all applicable laws;
• Preparing Quarterly Legal Reports;
• Acting on regulatory changes or issues;
• Preparing Board Resolutions, Action Points, Board Reports and Board Minutes;
• Identifying legal and compliance risks and issues relative to the Placement Service’s intended actions;
• Managing the risk exposure of the Placement Service by ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements
• Liaising with external lawyers on all cases filed against the Placement Service to ensure instructions, witnesses and statements are procured on time;
• Working with external lawyers to initiate lawsuits or to formulate a defense, to gather evidence in legal proceedings involving the Placement Service and rendering general advice relating to any legal proceedings involving the Placement Service; and
• Acting on claims that may be made by the Placement Service in debt recovery; and
• Representing the Placement Service in litigation matters.
Minimum Job Qualification
• A minimum of Five (5) years relevant work experience in the Public or Private Sector;
• Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized institution; (iii) Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education;
• Admitted as an advocate of the High Court Kenya;
• Proficiency in computer applications;
• Attended a Management Course lasting not less than 4 weeks;
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance.
