Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinating work plans and supervising officers to ensure work management aligns with set targets.
• Drafting legal opinions and other relevant legal documents.
• Drafting local agreements, leases, and contractual documents.
• Collating and analyzing research data and findings from court proceedings.
• Interviewing clients for proper referrals and preparing briefs and legal papers.
• Attending court and other tribunals to represent the County Government and its agencies/institutions in cases where they are parties.
• Supporting the County Legal Department and various County Departments in drafting legislative proposals, policies, and regulations.
• Disseminating legal documents for use by the County Government.
• Liaising with external counsel on cases assigned to handle matters for the County Government.
• Performing any other functions assigned from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment
• Must be a Kenyan citizen.
• Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
• Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
• Valid practicing certificate/license.
• Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in public or private legal practice.
• Proficiency in computer skills.
• Satisfies the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on leadership and integrity.
• Demonstrated understanding of National Values and Principles of Governance and Public Service as stipulated in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
