JOB DETAILS:
Hillcrest International Schools is a leading British Curriculum School located in Nairobi, Kenya, with an established status in the region’s educational sphere. It comprises three schools; Hillcrest Early Years, Hillcrest Preparatory and Hillcrest Secondary.
We invite qualified candidates to apply for the role of Sports Coach in the secondary school, for September 2022.
The successful candidate will be a sportsperson of proven ability, who will provide effective coaching to students across the Key Stages. S/He will work closely with the members of the Sports Department and assist with the running and implementation of the school’s sports programme and provision, ensuring a cohesive and broad-minded approach to school sport.
Key duties and roles:
• Promote comprehensive, stimulating and challenging sports programmes
• for students during timetabled lessons and as part of the school’s extra-curricular programme.
• Ensure effective learning for all students through excellent coaching and delivery of well-planned and organised lessons.
• Support the Sports Department deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated sports programme.
• Facilitate and encourage learning experiences which provide students with the opportunity to progress and achieve their individual potential.
• Support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
• Monitor, assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of students.
• Use appropriate strategies to ensure progress and well-being.
• Support the development of learning/coaching materials and courses of study.
• Support enrichment activities to enhance students’ learning experience.
• Manage the behaviour of students during coaching sessions and around the school.
• Maintain an organised and well-presented learning environment for students.
• Contributing to the maintenance of a supportive and stimulating learning environment for all students.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in sports related or education related field
• Coaching qualifications preferably in Athletics, Rugby, Hockey or Football.
• Minimum one year of demonstrated high level coaching experience. experience coaching at secondary school level will be an added advantage.
• Able to effectively use ICT.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication, influencing and motivational skills.
• Problem solving and initiative.
• Courtesy and professionalism with all stakeholders
