Risk Consultant, BD - Retail Insurance
Roles and responsibilities
Achieving Zamara’s ambitious strategic priorities will be complex and challenging. Its continued success will be dependent on building and retaining a world-class team. The Risk Consultant will provide quality service and advice to clients by co-ordinating underwriting activities in the division professionally to ensure client satisfaction, retention and expansion.
The role will report to the Team Leader.
In more detail, the areas of responsibility include:
Account Servicing
The following experience is preferred:
Bachelor of Commerce degree - Insurance option or business-related field
1. Review underwriting documents to ensure they agree with the current market trends, the Insurance Act and IRA guidelines
2. Verify validity of claims with the underwriting terms to decide on whether they are admissible or not
3. Confirm that underwriting prerequisites are met before a risk is taken up
4. Handle renewals and midterm premium adjustments
5. Ensure premiums are fully paid by providing monthly updates of outstanding premiums
6. Follow up on claims and update the scheme administrator
7. Identify client’s needs and ensure they are satisfactorily met
8. Prepare monthly reports and client feedback/SLA’s
9. Carry out product training to clients at least twice within the policy period
10. Send out periodic e-shots on various products offered in retail as well as sensitization of pertinent matters concerning existing covers
Managing and Growing Client Portfolio
1. Formulate a client log to track existing clients plus their current policies
2. Engage existing clients throughout their policy period in terms of updates on market trends to build good relationships
3. Design tailor-made policies to suit client needs
4. Cross – sell products to different clientele
5. Network with existing clients.
New Business
1. Source for new business for the department which includes networking with potential clients
2. Cross selling within Zamara Group
Internal Training
1. Provide guidance and training to new staff on their relevant roles
2. Organize external teams (Insurers) to train staff on existing and new products
3. Organize internal training for processes and products
4. Carry out proficiency tests on product knowledge and retail process
Experience and personal quality
1. Pursuing ACII qualification
2. Strong knowledge of insurance products
3. System training on M-files
4. Excellent presentation skills
5. Proficiency in Insurance Broking software
6. Proficiency in navigating network drives, DMS
7. Knowledge in claims handling
8. Effective writing & communication skills
9. Report writing skills
10. The following personal qualities are preferred:
Ability to persuade and influence
1. Client service orientation
2. Advanced relationship building & networking skills at all levels
3. Ability to multi-task and delegate where appropriate
