JOB DETAILS:
Reports: Hospital Matron/Director Nursing Services
Job Summary:
To provide safe/competent/prompt nursing care to all patients. .

Main Duties and Responsibilities: -
1. Midwifery and Nursing duties
a. Ensure safe and timely deliveries for mothers in labour, including conducting deliveries when called upon.
b. Ensure nursing care plan is adhered to and documented
c. Early escalation to other team members including consultants in case of complications
d. Risk detection and management in a timely manner.
2. Client experience, relations and affairs
a. Ensure the client and family are taken care of, their needs met in a timely manner and feedback given as required, in line with hospital policies
b. Handle complaints as per policy
3. Operations and Business Planning
a. Budgets for department including projection
b. Work with other team members to grow the department
c. Ensure the department has the right equipment and tools required for operations
d. Suggest and instituting cost-containment measures
e. Report as required to other key departments and offices
4. Staff Management
a. Ensure department is adequately staffed at all times
b. Foster and promote teamwork and ensure seamless cohesion between consultants and nurses.
c. Staff relations in line with hospital HR Manual
d. Planning and Budgeting for staff training.
5. Quality agenda
a. Support departmental and hospital-wide quality agenda
b. Develop and maintain infection-control procedures
6. Management of Clinical processes
a. Manage departmental inventory in line with hospital policies.
b. Work with H.o.D and Consultants to ensure SoPs, Policies, Procedures and Guidelines are developed, implemented, followed, monitored and reported.
c. Continuous nursing professional education for departmental staff
d. Reporting per institutional and Government (MoH) policies

Qualifications
• Diploma in KRN/KRM, KRM, KRCHN
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (preferred but not mandatory)
• Valid practicing license from Nursing council of Kenya.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a practicing nurse.
• Experience running a busy maternity department for at least 3 years as an In-charge.
