The Reading Revolution (RR) is a long-term Storymoja campaign designed to excite children, teachers and other stakeholders in the education sector, as well as Strategic Partners in Storymoja physical and digital education products and create demand for them.
Overall Purpose of the Position
Assist in designing and implementing the RR strategy. This position requires careful understanding and integration of the objectives and strategies of Storymoja products, projects and departments. .
Summary of responsibilities:
• Champion reading and promote the Storymoja brand, app, books and campaigns to teachers in schools, other key stakeholders and strategic partners.
• Nurture strong relationships with potential and current Strategic Partners with a view to understanding mutual objectives and inspiring them to participate and support Storymoja reading and education campaigns.
• Input on detailed implementation plans, leveraging school networks and expertise to generate positive attention grow audiences and effectively market our brand, app and books. Clearly state targets, budgets, and timelines for delivery and agree measures of success. Execute with reference to the RR mobilisation manual and tools for schools.
• Proactively disseminate information about our app, books and campaigns to agreed target groups and input on the design of relevant communication materials – printed and social media.
• Proactively collect contacts and aggressively use social media to promote Storymoja books, app, and reading and education campaigns. Liaise with all Storymoja departments to capture information about current and past audiences in order to deepen and widen the network of audiences.
• Conduct regular monitoring activities and write reports, updates and case histories for ongoing communication, including newsletters and social media, with a range of stakeholders and strategic partners.
• Promote and sell our books, app, projects and products at events and other promotions as required.
• Gather and disseminate relevant information about the competition on a timely basis. Actively engage with various industry stakeholders, and keep abreast of developments in the greater reading and publishing sector, locally and internationally.
• Continuously review tasks/ targets to ensure that agreed deliverables are on track, and prepare and present weekly monthly and quarterly reports.

The right candidate will have:
• Bachelor or Masters’ Degree
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the education sector, with experience in managing teachers at the primary school level. Experience in education technology is a big plus.
• Good understanding of issues and challenges affecting literacy, and approaches to addressing the same.
• Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills.
• Good social media skills and be willing to continuously upgrade through training.
• Team player able to work effectively and collaboratively across all departments to meet goals and deadlines.
• Must be organised, attentive to detail and good at follow up.
• Fundraising experience is a big plus.
