Organizational Setting
The position is located in the FAO Representation in Kenya
Reporting Lines
The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Kenya and direct supervision of Governance of Natural Resources Sub-Programme Lead, the FFF Project Assistant will be responsible for assisting the National FFF Facilitator in implementation and monitoring of the FFF programme in Kenya covering 7 counties. In particular, the consultant will be expected to deliver on the following.
Technical Focus
The Forest and Farm Facility Programme is a global partnership initiative between FAO, IUCN, IIED and Agri-cord among others. In Africa, the FFF programme covers 5 countries (Kenya, Zambia, Madagascar, Ghana and Togo). The goal of Phase II of the Forest and Farm Facility (FFF) is to support forest and farm producers and their organizations to be primary change agents of ‘Climate Resilient Landscapes and Improved Livelihoods.’ These producers are key players in reducing poverty and significant contributors for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to fight climate change as part of the Paris agreement. With its unique focus on women and youth within the smallholder producer groups as vital agents for change, Phase II will contribute to at least 11 of 17 SDGs through focused work to achieve the following outcomes:
• Outcome 1. More enabling policy and legal frameworks for FFPOs delivered through more FFPO-inclusive governance and cross-sectoral processes (SDG 16 & 17).
• Outcome 2. Increased entrepreneurship, access to markets and finance through gender equitable value chains delivered through new capacity to provide business incubation within FFPOs (SDG 1, 5, 8 & 12).
• Outcome 3. Improved delivery of landscape scale mitigation, adaptation and climate resilience for climate change through direct engagement of FFPOs and integration with inclusive livelihood approaches (SDG 2, 13 & 15).
• Outcome 4. Improved and equitable access to social and cultural services (SDG 3 & 10).
• In Kenya, the project is being implemented in 7 counties (Laikipia, Nyandarua, Nakuru, Bomet, Kericho, Baringo and Bungoma). The FFF programme works in partnership with Kenya Forest Service, Farm Forestry Smallholder Producers Association of Kenya (FFSPAK) and the respective counties.

Tasks and responsibilities
• Assist the National Forest and Farm Facility Facilitator in programme management and monitoring
• Assist the preparation of FFF annual work plans and budgeting in consultation with Sub-programme Operations Assistant
• Assisting in development of Letters of Agreement (LoAs) with implementing partners and follow up on implementation and monitoring in accordance FAO standards and regulations;
• Support to linkages, networks partnerships and synergies with ongoing county and national programmes from FAO and other partners related to improving livelihoods of rural people and climate resilient landscape management
• Support participatory development of women and youth friendly enterprises within the forest and farm value chains
• Prepare monthly and annual reports capturing key achievements as per the workplan
• Support FFF programme communication (including briefs, updates, photos, press releases, radio programmes and other communication s activities)
• Support organization and planning of FFF meetings, request for venues and rapporteuring during FFF regular meetings and workshops Prepare imprest and DSA for participants during FFF meetings
• Ensuring compliance with the administrative procedures of FFF, including those related to updating its monitoring system FORIS with all country LoAs, their progress on reporting and payments
• In collaboration with M&E unit, undertake regular monitoring and reporting of FFF activities
• Planning and facilitating exchange visits for experience and knowledge sharing among producer associations within county
• Undertake any other relevant assignment as may be directed by FAOR from time to time

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• University degree in rural development, economics, finance, social science or related field.
• 3 years of relevant practical experience in capacity development of smallholder producer organizations, cooperatives, CBOs, youth or women groups
• Working knowledge of English
• National of Kenya
