Roles and Responsibilities
Leadership/Partnership
• Provide overall strategic leadership to grow CCAK through the achievement of CCAK goals, mission and its core values
• Implement and facilitate with the Executive Board the mission, long-range vision, and strategic & business plan of CCAK.
• Form and maintain positive relationships with industry, government, and academic members/partners and partner organizations in a manner that benefits CCAK and strengthens those partnerships. Fostering these relationships will require travel and face-to-face communication.
• Coordinate with the Board the staffing and functions of all CCAK committees.
• Serve in the absence of a CEO as Secretary and an ex officio member of the CCAK Board of Directors.
• Serve in the absence of a CEO as direct supervisor for all secretariat staff
• Coordinate efforts to grow membership in CCAK nationally and internationally.
• Coordinate policy and advocacy on behalf of members and CCAK towards and enabling environment for the clean cooking sector growth
• Demonstrate good business practices and leadership skills through oversight of all fiscal activities of the Association, including preparation of the annual budget, coordination of financial audits and development of quarterly/annual reports as well as maintenance of insurance coverage for the Association.
• Work with the Board to ensure sustained financial support of short- and long-term Association goals.
• Facilitate agenda planning and meeting logistics for all Board meetings and conference calls.
• Directly supervise secretariat staff, conduct performance evaluations and other assessments that ensure effective delivery, program execution, accountability, and professional development.Programme Management
• Provide leadership in defining and facilitating program planning and implementation and to represent CCAK programs to international donors and organizations to leverage new and continued funding
• Prepare and implement action plan and reporting mechanisms for all activities
• Manages project budget, determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations and grant reports
• Managing the program’s budget, aligning the deliverables (outputs) to the program’s outcome
• Implement new resource diversification and revenue deepening strategies
• Designs data-driven evaluation to assess progress toward goals, outcomes/impact for improvement initiatives and return on investment
• Establish organizational sustainability through revenue generating strategies and activities.
• Resource mobilization through preparing funding proposals and pursue partnerships
• To influence policies, regulations, fiscal and administrative frameworks that facilitate a competitive business environment for CCAK Members and other clean cooking sector stakeholders.
• To establish and implement new CCAK strategic directions
• Build the CCAK brand and image, enhance CCAK governance and accountability structures,
• To establish organizational sustainability through revenue generating strategies and activities.
• Oversee strategic pillar coordination Communication/Networking
• Serve as an advocate for the CCAK, its mission, services, and constituencies.
• Represent the CCAK on issues relevant to the association and the clean cooking industry.
• Take the lead in addressing public issues and situations relevant to CCAK, and, when necessary, select appropriate CCAK members with the expertise to successfully address the issue(s) at hand.
• Strategically attend meetings of relevant organisations (i.e. GIZ, CCA, KEPSA, Ministry of Energy, and EPRA, etc).
• Cultivate and maintain communication with members of the Association.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a field relevant to the CCAK mission (Natural Resource Management, renewable energy, rural development, Environmental studies, social science/development studies etc.
• 5 years’ experience in project Management /implementation and or Monitoring and Evaluation
• At least 3 years of work experience in the renewable or household energy sector focusing on business development support
• At least 3 years’ experience in knowledge management and development of communication materials
• Experience in grants management, proposal development insights, and resource mobilization.
• Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation
• Good knowledge and handling of project and program management methodology and techniques
• Good understanding of the principal issues facing urban, peri-urban and rural low-income
• communities in the field of household energy
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written in English and Kiswahili
• Strong leadership and management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including a strong work ethic, impeccable integrity, and judgment
