Product Manager

What Were Looking For
We are looking for an impact focused Product Manager who knows that it's not enough to just deploy a feature, but that it needs to have the intended impact as well. You will join a cross functional Product team made up of engineers and product designers and must collaborate closely with them to discover effective solutions, and then work together to deliver the best ideas. We empower our product teams to solve hard problems and the ideal candidate can solve these important problems for our users while also keeping our business in mind.
This job, as with other roles on the product team, is an individual contributor role. You will need to lead through influence on your teammates, colleagues, and stakeholders, building a case through logic and data over opinion. You may already be a confident leader who has experience guiding cross-functional teams in the successful creation of products that improve consumer experience and grow market share. This is a full time remote position based in Nairobi Kenya, and will report directly to our Head of Product.

What You’ll Do
• Lead your product team through influence, evaluating opportunities and determining what gets built and delivered
• Help your product team understand our users through user science (user interviews, persona mapping, journey mapping, etc)
• Use qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize solving valuable opportunities or points of friction
• Quickly identify risk in 4 key areas (value, usability, technological feasibility, and business viability), and build prototypes that test or mitigate those risks accordingly.
• Help your product team build strong testing hypotheses to evaluate solutions quickly.
• Exercise strong judgment on whether experiments should continue or be shelved
• Lead effective divergent and convergent thinking exercises with your product team

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery.
• 2 years working on technology-powered products as either a product manager, product designer, engineer, data analyst, data scientist, or user researcher.
• Demonstrated ability to learn multiple functional areas of business – engineering, design, finance, sales, or marketing.
• Demonstrated ability to figure out solutions to hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgment to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, written narrative.
• Proven ability to engage with engineers, designers, and company leaders in a constructive and collaborative relationship.
• Experience leading or overseeing the product life cycle.

• Familiarity with global health, international development, or medical hardware
• Experience working on global and cross disciplinary teams
• Experience working in a startup environment or on small or agile teams
• Understanding of databases, data analytics, and reporting
