Principal Finance Officer (Management Accounting) JOB GRADE KSC 5 ( 1 post )

Reporting to the Finance Manager.

Duties and responsibilities will include:
i) Analyze financial information to assist business profitability and growth
ii) Provide accurate and sound management reporting to assist with key decision making
iii) Produce month end and year end journals in preparation for periodic reports.
iv) Prepare statutory and management accounts and ensure compliance with all financial regulations
v) Contribute to annual budgeting and planning process
vi) Review accounting processes and practices and improve where necessary to ensure efficient financial operations.
vii) Analyzing manufacturing/production operations, equipment availability and utilization and recommending changes.
viii) Performing month-end cost accounting closure.
ix) Performing life cycle cost-benefit analysis.
x) Overseeing annual physical inventory and analyzing inventory valuations
xi) Designing and implementing and maintain cost accounting systems

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, one must have:
i) Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting Economics, Business Administration or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
ii) At least eight (8) years’ relevant work experience in management accounting in a public institution or private sector three (3) of which must have been in a supervisory role.
iii) In depth experience and technical knowledge in Target costing, Margin analysis, Break even analysis, Constraint analysis, Trend analysis, Transaction analysis, capital budgeting analysis and Capital budget analysis.
iv) Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
v) Full professional qualification in accounting e.g. ACCA, CPA or CTA.
vi) Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
vii) Good interpersonal skills.
viii) Working knowledge in computer applications.
ix) Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
