Principal Corporate Communication Officer– (GRADE NLC 5) – ONE (1) POSTS
Terms of Appointment
The appointment will be on a Permanent and Pensionable terms
Personal Emolument for the position of Principal Corporate Communication Officer;
Basic Salary Scale : Kshs Min 88,000 – Max 163,000 per month
House Allowance : Kshs. 35,000 per month
Commuter Allowance : Kshs. 14,000 per month
Job purpose:
The purpose of the position is to coordinate Implementation and promotion of the commission’s corporate identity and Communication.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates development of the communication budget
2. Lead in preparation of Communication quarterly and annual reports
3. Supervises and guides the work of Communication officers
4. Coordinates the drafting of press releases, press briefings and Commissions image building activities;
5. Plans and organises the work of the pillar team to accomplish project strategic & project goals and targets in the most cost-effective and impactful manner possible
6. Proactively develop a network of external relationships including with Development Partners and key national, regional and sector press
7. Supervises the development of content and the continuous update of the office website, and social media platforms
8. Supervises the development of communication tools including brochures, banners and branded novelties for public functions and publicity events.
9. Prepares reports to management and external partners/clients on implications of research and knowledge management results on the land sector.
10. Writing articles for publication in journals, website, social media and other platforms
11. Reviews, analyses and synthesizes information and ensure all projects are conducted with sound practices and techniques.
12. Track and review media coverage on land and related issues.
13. Supervise development of internal publications such as newsletters, releases, email announcements, planned publications, on-line, intranet, video, special projects and assignments
14. Coordinate Preparation of publications and information communication and education materials, such as newsletters, brochures, posters, calendars
15. Executes media relations plans, in line with the commission’s strategic interests
16. Certifies the rules and procedures of conducting communication and ensure compliance with the communication strategy.
Academic Qualifications;
Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communications, Information Science, Linguistics, Public Relations or Sociology from a recognized institution.
Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies;
Candidate must be a certified and registered member of good standing of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) or a similar relevant PR/Corporate Communication & marketing membership organization
Previous relevant work experience required;
Nine (9) years of service, and (3) years’ experience in a comparable position from a reputable organization
Applicants must possess level of knowledge and skills in the following areas;
1. Leadership skills.
2. Organisational skills.
3. Conflict management skills.
4. Presentation skills
Note:
1. All candidates must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
