Job Specification
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

• Five (5) years’ experience in a relevant field;
• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum mean grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (specializing in Finance or Accounts), Economics, Business Administration (specializing in Finance or Accounts) or its equivalent from a recognized and accredited institution;
• Master’s degree in Finance, Accounts, Business Administration or equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution will be an added Advantage;
• Certified Public Accountant (CPAK) qualification or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
• Membership to a relevant and recognized professional body;
• Certificate in Management course from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
• Proficiency in computer applications; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results

Duties and responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail;

• Processing budgetary supply matters and control of expenditure commitments for the Office;
• Implementing the budget through preparing and processing payments;
• Evaluating and scrutinizing expenditure proposals and compile information required in the budgetary processes;
• Preparing annual and revised estimates of recurrent and development expenditures;
• Issuing receipts against all cash collections;
• Maintain books of accounts in line with the regulations;
• Carrying out bank and petty cash reconciliation;
• Preparing accounting reports and statements;
• Record fixed asset acquisition and update fixed assets register in the accounting systems;
• Ensure timely accounting of imprest warrants and advances; and
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Principal Finance Officer.
