Position Overview:
are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Poultry Production and Packaging expert to join our team. The Poultry production and Packaging expert will play a key role in planning and setting up our chicken processing facility. The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in the chicken production industry, with a focus on compliance, equipment procurement, waste management, hygiene, and sanitation

Responsibilities:
Compliance and Permits:
• Identify and secure the necessary permits and approvals required for constructing and operating a chicken processing plant in the chosen location, specifically from Kiambu County.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and National Construction Authority regulations.

Equipment Procurement:
• Identify and procure specific equipment and machinery required for the chicken processing plant, considering factors such as processing capacity, automation, and sanitation standards.
• Source equipment from reputable suppliers, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Waste Management:
• Develop a comprehensive waste management plan for by-products offals and effluent .
• Oversee the installation of appropriate waste disposal systems in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Hygiene and Sanitation:
• Plan for sanitation stations throughout the facility.
• Supervise the installation of proper drainage systems to facilitate effective and thorough cleaning.

Emergency Procedures:
• Develop and communicate emergency evacuation plans.
• Oversee the installation of necessary safety equipment, including fire extinguishers and first aid kits.

Training Programs:
• Plan and implement employee training programs, ensuring that all staff is educated on safety protocols and hygiene practices.
• Train and supervise a team of farm and facility workers, ensuring that they follow safety protocols and best practices in chicken production.
• Train on how to Implement and enforce biosecurity protocols to minimize the risk of disease outbreaks and contamination.

Farmers Productivity Program:
• Design a farmers' feed access program in collaboration with a fintech inventory financing program.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize production efficiency and achieve production targets, while ensuring the welfare and health of the chickens

Testing and Commissioning:
• Conduct thorough testing of all equipment and systems before full operation.
• Oversee the commissioning of the facility in stages to identify and rectify any issues that may arise.

Documentation:
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of construction plans, permits, and compliance certificates.
• Train in house staff on maintenance of accurate records of machinery and equipment performance
• Keep records of equipment manuals and warranties for future reference.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Animal production and health, Animal science, Veterinary, or any other course in the relevant field.
• Proven ten years experience in chicken production, processing, and packaging with a strong understanding of poultry husbandry, nutrition, health, and welfare.
• Experience in providing extension services to poultry farmers.
• In-depth knowledge of compliance, permits, and regulations in the poultry industry.
• Good understanding of farm economics and cost management
• Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Familiarity with waste management and environmental sustainability practices.
• Willingness to work irregular hours and be available on-call in case of emergencies.
