Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi is a private not-for-profit teaching hospital that provides tertiary and secondary level healthcare services. The University Hospital has been providing high quality care for the people of East Africa and beyond for over 60 years.
Position Summary
The Accountant will support the finance angle of the pension and provident accounts (payroll section) in achieving accurate and timely financial reports as well as ensuring adherence to all the finance policies and internal controls
Requirements
• Prospective applicants must have qualifications in CPA III or equivalent.
• A degree in a business related course is an added advantage.
• Minimum five (5) years’ minimum of working experience in a similar role;
• Knowledge of Accounting and Book-keeping procedures, as well as MS Office applications and Accounting systems;
• Capable of working both independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
• Positive attitude towards work and other members of the team;
• Ability to work under pressure;
• Unquestionable integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Professional attitude and strong work ethic with attention to timeliness.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure complete and accurate deduction of pension and provident funds.
• Ensure the timely remittance of pension and provident and other statutory deductions.
• Ensure that all new employees are enrolled to pension/provident on time.
• Facilitate and coordinate the payment of the leavers.
• Facilitate transfer-in from other schemes.
• Drafting and facilitating preparation and update of scheme policies.
• Ensure compliance of the schemes with RBA and other regulations.
• Coordinate timely audit for the statutory accounts.
• Assist in drafting and/or reviewing audited accounts.
• Coordinate transactions between schemes and stakeholders (members, sponsor, administrator etc.).
• Re-verification of interest awarded by the approved issuer.
• Assist in payroll processing and filling.
• Any other task that may be assigned.
