We are looking for an Operational Technical Support Expert to join our Operational team in Africa and Europe expertise Centre.
Africa and Europe Expertise Centre is a specialized team dedicated to support Wärtsilä long term agreement customers in their daily and long-term operations, in order to optimize installation lifecycle costs and overall performances.
Working in strict contact with Customers and other Wartsila products’ experts, the Operational Support expertise team is formed by highly skilled engineers able to support from remote on operations challenges, with the primary target of ensuring safety and smooth energy production operations and to contribute to the overall optimized plant performances and costs.
The preferred location for the position is Trieste, Italy, or any major Wartsila location in Europe or Africa. The position is permanent.
What will you be doing?
• Act as direct operational support expert (mechanical / automation) for internal colleagues at sites and customer site personnel.
• Make analysis with adequate conclusions and recommendations (reports) for how to solve complex operational problems.
• Report the related work progress to relevant stakeholders.
• Report and propose improvement needs of the products and solutions.
• Provide operational support to internal and external customers.
• Analyse field experience and customer feedback data in order to improve operation and maintenance of the installation, as well as the products and solutions (input to tech. service).
• Visit sites when deeper product, system and/or performance analysis is needed.
• Acquire know-how and follow-up of the latest global development trends of respective operational expert area, including new algorithm with Artificial Intelligence.
• Participate in customer meetings as technical operational expert, when complex operational problems need to be handled.
You will shine in this role when you have:
• Technical background in engineering, mechanical, electrical combined with strong site experiences.
• Advanced knowledge of some of these specific expert areas; engine automation, plant automation, products, engines, auxiliary equipment, energy storage system
• Capability of performing operating parameters data analysis, early issues detection and prioritization of issues in order to prevent any major malfunctioning or failure.
• Troubleshooting attitude on mechanical and/or electrical equipment
• Knowledge on technical drawings and flow charts
• English language as a must
• German language seen as a plus
• Knowledge on energy storage system seen as a plus
• Previous experiences at sites from commissioning and/or plant operations and/or chief onboard engineer seen as a plus
