NCUK IFY Teacher

  • To undertake teaching responsibilities within the NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) programme, ensuring that each student achieves academic excellence through effective instruction, support, and guidance in accordance with the ethos and policies of Woodcreek School and the standards set by NCUK.
  • The teacher will deliver quality content based on the approved syllabi, foster a positive and safe learningenvironment, and collaborate with colleagues to promote continuous improvement.

Instruction and Curriculum Delivery

  • Plan and deliver well-structured lessons aligned with the NCUK IFY syllabus, tailored to the variedlearning needs of students.
  • Prepare comprehensive schemes of work, lesson plans, and instructional resources that meet curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Use a range of teaching methods and technologies to promote active and inclusive learning.
  • Guide students through practical sessions (where applicable), ensuring safety procedures are strictly followed.
  • Regularly assess, mark, and provide constructive feedback on student work and progress.
  • Monitor student performance and adapt instructional approaches to address gaps in understanding or achievement.
  • Prepare students for internal and external assessments in accordance with NCUK guidelines.
  • Foster inquiry, creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking across all lessons.
  • Create and maintain a safe, engaging, and well-managed classroom and learning environment.

Student Support and Development

  • Provide academic and pastoral support to promote student well-being and achievement.
  • Monitor student attendance and engagement, addressing concerns promptly and appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively with the Learning Support Department and Academic Manager to support students with special educational needs.
  • Encourage the development of self-discipline, time management, and effective study habits.
  • Guide students in reflecting on their academic progress and setting realistic learning goals.
  • Engage parents/guardians in the learning process through regular communication and consultation.
  • Refer students to appropriate internal or external support services when necessary.
  • Respond to emergencies, including providing first aid or referring to the school nurse as appropriate.
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.

Professional Development and Collaboration

  • Participate actively in professional development opportunities related to teaching, learning, and the NCUK IFY curriculum.
  • Contribute to departmental and school-wide planning, evaluation, and improvement processes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share effective teaching practices, resources, and strategies.
  • Attend and contribute meaningfully to departmental meetings and discussions.
  • Accept evolving responsibilities within the department as part of personal and institutional development.

Extra-Curricular Involvement

  • Support and participate in the school’s co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • Organize or contribute to student enrichment programmes, school clubs, or academic competitions.
  • Participate in school functions, including open days, student orientation sessions, and parent-teacher meetings.
  • Promote holistic development by encouraging student participation in non-academic programmes.

  • Adhere to all Woodcreek School and NCUK policies, guidelines, and operational procedures.

Person Specification

  • Must be an A-level /6th Form College Teacher. Experience in delivering IFY program is an added advantage.
  • Good track record in students’ academic achievement.
  • Ability to inspire students to learn effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
