Lwala Community Alliance (Lwala) is a community-led innovator proving that when communities lead, change is drastic and lasting. Founded by Kenyans, Lwala's team now has 85 staff members and engages over 200 community health workers. We have leveraged this bottomup, multidimensional approach in an all-out effort to drastically reduce maternal and child mortality! We are tackling the key drivers of deaths – gender inequity, barriers to education, poverty, unplanned pregnancies, unskilled deliveries, and delayed treatment of childhood illnesses. We are on a 5-year strategic initiative to scaling our community-led health model to reach 1,000,000 people by 2020. Reporting to the M&E Manager, the M&E Data Officer will work to successfully measure the improvements in the lives of Lwala’s beneficiaries to demonstrate and ensure quality and impact. The Data Officer will provide cross-cutting support to the M&E activities for Lwala projects, but with a particular focus on the Nutrition, Early Childhood Development (ECD), and Obstetric Hemorrhage program activities. Responsibilities include managing data in Commcare, Salesforce, scorecards and other auxiliary databases, and generating M&E reports for internal learning and external donor reporting (such as USAID). The Data Officer will also support indicator design, routine data quality assessment, program evaluation design, and data collection work associated with these programs. S/he will work closely with the M&E Manager, M&E Information Systems Manager, M&E Fellow, Impact Director, and relevant program coordinators. .

  Key Responsibilities
Data Monitoring & Reporting (30%)
• Assist in providing training and technical assistance to Nutrition and ECD programs on use of M&E tools
• Assist in the drafting of new indicators & associated data collection and reporting
• Support the Nutrition, ECD, and Obstetric Hemorrhage programs on M&E activities for timely and adequate reporting
• Assist program coordinators in communicating data collection tools to healthcare providers, program facilitators, and the Ministry of Health
• Support the program team in collecting success stories and narratives to complement data collected
Data Analysis & Data Quality Audits (30%)
• Carry out detailed monthly data reviews on Nutrition, ECD, and Obstetric Hemorrhage program data & share findings with M&E team
• Facilitate collaboration with program coordinators to use data trends to inform program/intervention implementation
• Collaborate with M&E Manager and Program coordinators in making departmental presentations on program performance related to 2020 Strategy Indicators, targets or other ongoing data management requirements

  Qualifications
Specialized Training/Professional Qualifications
• Degree in public health, early childhood development, M&E, statistics, community development, social science or related field
• Strong familiarity with and use Microsoft Excel for technical purposes
• Experience generating descriptive statistics using a statistical analysis software (STATA, SPSS, R)
• Understanding of standard principles for data collection, data management and analysis, including human subject protection and ethics
• Experience collecting field data, public health data, and data via mobile tools such as tablets and smartphones
• Familiarity with data visualization tool(s) such as Power BI, Tableau preferred
• Experience in M&E reporting for donors, particularly USAID, a strong plus

• Prior experience in nutrition, early childhood development and/or RMNCH health
• Experience working with community-based projects in Kenya
• Strong preference for candidates familiar with USAID-funded program M&E requirements (e.g., CLA framework)
