POSITION SUMMARY
The UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) has recently approved a project to accelerate REDD+ in Kenya for equitable climate mitigation and benefits (ClimateARK). ClimateARK will aim to scale up and buttress ongoing REDD+ implementation efforts, especially REDD+ Nesting in Kenya, by ensuring a transformative, equitable and inclusive multi-stakeholder approach to nature-based solutions to emission reductions, as identified in Kenya’s REDD+ Strategy. This will be a joint project between Conservation International (Africa Field Division), Kieti Law, Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association (KWCA), and Indigenous Livelihood Enhancement Partners (ILEPA).

The Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Senior Coordinator is primarily responsible for designing, collecting, and analyzing M&E data, preparing and sharing performance reports for adaptive management, supporting team members and stakeholders to gather and use M&E data, convening and attending relevant events (including learning events) and meetings with the project team and donors. The MEL Senior Coordinator will be responsible for measuring the quality and effectiveness of the programs' actions to support conservation priorities. The MEL Senior Coordinator will assist in the overall delivery of the intended project activities and ensure the timely execution of project tasks. They will serve as a technical and/or administrative resource within the program assisting in partner management and coordination, smooth running of activities, and administrative tasks.

The MEL Senior Coordinator plays a role in capacity building and helping transfer knowledge to individuals within as well as outside the immediate program on the M&E framework, data analysis, and management and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate, and facilitate the development and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and learning plan(s) and indicator framework, and keep it updated in accordance with project activities and relevant timeframes.
• Collect and analyze data and prepare reports on results for project adaptive management and learning and as per donor requirements.
• Ensure M&E is happening in an aligned manner across all partners.
• Analyze and disseminate M&E results to stakeholders and decision-makers.
• Develop and maintain all monitoring and evaluation data collection and tracking tools and database(s) to ensure that project data is current and accurate. Ensure data quality and validity for all M&E data for the project.
• Adhere to the donor requirements for monitoring and evaluation.
• Support any project evaluations as may be required by the donor.
• Collate lessons learned and knowledge for use in project learning, adaptive management, and project communications.
• Design and compile key lessons learned and best practices emanating from the implementation of the project for learning purposes.
• Related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Work will require travel to different locations within Kenya, including remote locations.
There may be occasions that require one to work outside normal working hours.
This position requires working as part of a team.


QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation or Statistics.
Background Conservation Biology, natural sciences, natural resources management, or a related field.
2 - 4 years of related work experience in M&E as well as project management for conservation and development projects.
Experience in implementation of donor M&E frameworks and regulations.
Strong communication skills.
Team player and ability to effectively partner and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities under minimal supervision.
Demonstrated reliability and commitment to the job.
Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Google).
Eligibility to work in Kenya without Sponsorship.
Preferred
Advanced degree in conservation biology, natural sciences, and/ or natural resources management preferred, or related field.
