Moran E.A. Publishers Limited is publishing company that strives to provide quality information to our readers by publishing and marketing stimulating educational and general reading materials. The role of a Mathematics Editor is very crucial to the growth of Moran (EA) Publishers whose main operations involve publishing of high quality educational materials geared towards adding value to the teaching and learning activities. The Mathematics Editor at Moran (EA) Publishers plays a key role in developing teaching and learning materials (LTMS) for use at all levels of learning in Kenya, Eastern Africa, other countries in Africa and other parts of the world. We are looking for an editor with foresight, creative, innovative and a self-starter. You will have to demonstrate proper understanding of the pedagogical skills and requirements; be a trained teacher with massive experience in teaching Mathematics and Physics; be a holder of at least Bachelor of Science in Education specializing in Mathematics and Physics. A higher academic and professional qualification will be an added advantage. The candidate should have massive experience in editing Competency Based Curriculum materials for Kenyan market. Since publishing involves being a handler and steward of intellectual property, finances and others, you will have to demonstrate high level of integrity. .
Job Responsibilities:
• Participate in the commissioning of authors
• Give guidance to authors on manuscript development
• Participate in establishing and defining company policies to stakeholders involved in a project
• Make and communicate editorial decisions concerning a project
• Demonstrate vigilance in time and quality management to avoid delaying a project
• Source for additional materials and rights pertinent to a project e.g photographs, illustrations, copyright clearance, etc.
• Come up with viable publishing ideas and concepts, and participate in executing them
• Prepare work plans and budgets for projects within your domain and working by them
• Demonstrate alertness and reveal any risks and potential conflict of interest regarding a manuscript or personnel involved in a project
• Work harmoniously with other personnel involved in book development such as editors, designers, illustrators, proofreaders and others to ensure timely delivery of high quality products
• Carry out both substantive and copy editing of books and ensure high standards of quality and produce error free products
• Continuously carry out both product and market research on existing products or publishable ideas
• Take publishing projects through the whole publishing process- sourcing for manuscripts, editing, typesetting, designing, proofreading, etc..
