JOB DETAILS:
Managing Director
The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation was incorporated in 1966 as a Company limited by guarantee. The core business of the Foundation is publishing of educational and general materials and expanding its profits on a scholarships programme for bright but needy students in public secondary school.
The Foundation seeks to fill the position of Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
a) Providing leadership in the implementation and evaluation of corporate strategic plans and policy.
b) Managing the day to day operations of the Company and overseeing legal, regulatory and statutory requirements.
c) Guiding management and advising the Board on opportunities for investment and business growth.
d) Developing of and recommending to the Board the short, medium and long term strategies, business plans and annual operating budgets to achieve corporate objectives.
e) Maintaining a work environment suitable for attracting, developing and retaining a dynamic workforce.
f) Establishing proper internal monitoring and control systems.
g) Building relevant organizational capacity to deliver on strategy by guiding, directing and evaluating the work of other senior executives within the organization.
h) Creating partnerships and linkages at the highest level with key stakeholders to enhance JKFS corporate image.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
In order to be considered, the candidate must:
• Be a holder of Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Social Sciences, or any other related field from a recognized University.
• Possess a Master's Degree from a recognized University in any field in (a) above or any other related field.
• Have knowledge and work experience of not less than Ten (10) years in the Public Service, Private Sector or Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), regional or International Organizations, Five (5) of which must have been at Senior Management level.
• Have attended and successfully completed a Senior Management Course or Strategic Leadership Programme from Kenya School of Government or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Be a member of a relevant professional body in good standing/current certification. Demonstrate a clear understanding of Leadership and Strategic Management.
• Have excellent communication, interpersonal, networking and collaborative skills.
• Have knowledge and clear understanding of the Educational Sector, Publishing and Scholarship Industry; as an added advantage.
Person Specifications
The Applicant must:
• Be a Kenyan Citizen Be a transformative leader and demonstrate the ability to enhance the visibility of the Foundation,
• Demonstrate understanding of corporate governance for state corporations. Demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of Government policies and priorities.
• Demonstrate ability to lead in resource mobilization and to efficiently and prudently manage and account for use of public resources.
• Demonstrate integrity, accountability and professionalism.
• Be capable of initiating strategies aimed at effectively achieving the core mandate of the Foundation.
Other Mandatory Requirements
In addition to academic qualifications, experience and person specifications referred to herein above, all interested applicants must have clearances from the following institutions:
a) Certificate of Good Conduct issued by the National Police Service, Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
b) "Tax Compliance Certificate issued by the Kenya Revenue Authority.
c) Certificate of Clearance from a registered Credit Reference Bureau.
d) Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
e) Clearance from the Higher Education's Loans Board.
Terms of Service and Remuneration
a) The successful candidate will serve for a Three (3) years' contract which, subject to satisfactory performance, shall be renewable only once.
b) Remuneration attached to this position shall be determined in accordance with Section 5(3) of the State Corporations Act Cap 446 and as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
