JOB DETAILS:
UNTAPPED Water Limited Kenya provides lease financing and technical services to help water utilities, water entrepreneurs and real estate developers deploy PAYGO water systems and improve last mile delivery of safe water in East Africa. We are looking for a maintenance technician to work with us on a smart water meter project we have at the coastal region. .

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Installs repairs and inspects water meters, meter pits and meter reading equipment, valves, pressure regulators and flow testing meters; and trains other staff members in all aspects of the job.
• Diagnosis independently a issue with the smart meters, would it be electronic issue, IoT communication issue, or water mechanical issue
• Be able to fix electronic problem by opening a meter and doing small changed to the system or climbing to a LORA Antenna site and repair a LORA Antenna
• Responds to customer service requests, not limited to: connections, disconnects, rereading meters, checking for leaks, etc. and may be required to respond to emergency callouts or assist the operation crews with system repairs.
• Posts notices at physical locations in regard to billing, customer information, encroachment issues and perform work required to keep meter pits accessible.
• Creates and updates spreadsheets and updates water maps.
• Ensures proper inventory of meter-related equipment and parts; orders supplies as required.
• Maintains records of work performed and materials used.
• Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Identifying and resolving operational, technical, and procedural problems and communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
• Preparing clear and concise written reports.
• Safely operating an assortment of measurement tools and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS
• At least KCSE Certificate, Diploma certificate would be preferable
• Meter services rules, regulations, policies, and operating procedures including water conservation and identifying sources of high water use.
• Safe work methods and safety regulations while performing maintenance work.
• Record keeping practices of work performed.
• Computer applications related to the work with a focus on meter reading, charts & graphs and word documents.
• Techniques for dealing with angry or individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
