Library Assistant

The objective of this position is to assist senior library staff in providing information services and proper management of library collections and resources.

Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Library Assistant the position holder will be responsible for the following, amongst others:
• Ensuring all books are collected from the reading tables;
• Ensuring all items are properly labeled for retrieval;
• Replying promptly to user queries at the information desks or online platforms;
• Regular re-shelving as needed; at least twice a day;
• Registration of users on Koha;
• Checking-out book(s) and due date stamping;
• Bar-coding Spine labeling & covering books;
• Assist in supervising the security personnel;
• Carrying out stock take on an annual basis.

Qualifications Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree, higher Diploma or Ordinary Diploma in Information Sciences or related field from a recognized tertiary institution;
• At least 2 years’ relevant working experience from an institution of higher learning.
